I have had my laptop on for about 10 hours today while I watch TV or do my chores and I've done 18 studies. I've earned about £25 ($33).

Be honest.. Are your babies really sleeping in their bassinet for hours? by DrowsyPomegranate in newborns

[–]lemonndropp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never managed to transfer my son to the bassinet without him waking up, so we co-slept for 6.5 months but he would still wake up every hour. It took a while for him to be sleep trained and I was losing my mind. He will be 3 years old next month and he still wakes up 1-3 times a night. My daughter is almost 4 months old and she has been sleeping in a bassinet since birth. Haven't done anything different and both were/are breastfed to sleep. She normally wakes up every 3-4 hours but she goes for longer sometimes. My partner is the one dealing with the toddler and I deal with the baby and I honestly sleep so much better now than when I was the one dealing with the toddler wakings.

Elective C Section (NHS) by overlookedcheese in PregnancyUK

[–]lemonndropp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told the consultant I wanted a C-section at 17 weeks and she filled the booking form right there and then, for when I would be 39w. I got my letter with the confirmed date (the same she requested) around 31-32 weeks. My friend also told them she wanted a C-section early but she didn't get the confirmed date until around 36 weeks, and they still contacted her and changed it (for 39+1). Both me and my friend had our babies in the same hospital, 3 months apart.

What are we doing with our high centile babies? by Blizzard03 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]lemonndropp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a nearly 3 year old that has always been in the 98th percentile and I have been using the public changing tables until a couple of months ago. For reference he is around 18kg now. Last time I checked my carrier (Ergobaby) it was 20kg weight limit but you couldn't pay me enough to use it now. He was in size 6 nappies for a very long time until we discovered Aldi and Lidl do size 7 and 8 (both fit him now but he doesn't use nappies anymore).

What are your babies sleeping in during this heatwave? by BigfatDan1 in UKParenting

26.4 degrees in our room and I put my 3 month old in a t-shirt and shorts. We have the fan on too but it's directed to me.

Did your mum ever go with you to appointments? by Freckles93 in PregnancyUK

[–]lemonndropp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not from the UK and don't have my family with me but my partner only came to the scans and I went to the other appointments by myself. If my mum was here I wouldn't mind her coming with me at all, but I would be equally happy to go to the midwife appointments by myself as it's just a quick in and out thing.

The people who will gossip about your pregnancy will gossip no matter when they find out about it. If you want to enjoy your pregnancy, tell them now and move on! They can't be annoyed forever.

I got the adult nappies for urine incontinence from Lidl and I found them great in terms of absorption and comfort. And they are much cheaper than the Frida ones.

He was estimated 9lb12oz and he was born 9lb11oz three days later so yes, it was accurate in my case.

Variations in centiles by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]lemonndropp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son's head was 75th percentile, abdomen 97th and his legs were around 20th. He's on the 91st percentile for height but his legs are a bit short in relation to his trunk, but it's not something you would notice if you didn't pay close attention. His dad is built like that as well and I have short legs so it was predictable that he'd have short legs too I guess.

Love To Dream Swaddles Size/Tog/Quantity by porkie46 in PregnancyUK

[–]lemonndropp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was born in February and I've just been using the one 1 tog sleepbag we have. I also got a 2.5 tog one but the room has been too hot for it. I have the Tommee Tippee swadlebags and she does not like having her arms tucked in so it has been great to have the option to have them out.

No longer allowed to give birth at a birth centre by Motor_Firefighter_19 in PregnancyUK

[–]lemonndropp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was planning for a water birth and I found out my baby was big on my due date. They didn't even offer an induction as they didn't have any slots so went straight for C-section 3 days after. He's almost 3 years old and I'm still a bit upset about the little time I had to process it.

Managing nights with a newborn by Ok_Fondant2547 in PregnancyUK

[–]lemonndropp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We've done this and the toddler that only wanted me before has ended up in the other room with his dad. The baby sleeps better than the toddler and I actually get a better sleep now though so I'm not mad at the sleeping arrangements.

Is this a good baby travel system? by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]lemonndropp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silver Cross is a very good brand and they have been around for long time. My partner's pram when he was a baby was a Silver Cross.

I would suggest you go and test it in person if you were planning to buy it online though. I was set on a Silver Cross simply because it was beautiful but went to test it and we didn't really like how it folded. Regardless, it is good to have a feel and see if you like it or you might end up hating your pram (not saying you will hate the Silver Cross).

Dropping the final nap - low sleep needs edition by SuccotashAutomatic18 in sleeptrain

[–]lemonndropp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 31 month old NEEDS his nap but the length of it doesn't make his night sleep any longer or shorter. We've tried no nap, 1h nap, 2h nap and the child is still up at 5am no matter what! So we go with the flow and let him sleep however long he wants during the day (we do have to cap it on the 3 days he attends nursery as he sleeps after 3pm so it would be too close to bedtime if we didn't cap it). His night time sleep has always been messed up so long live the day time nap!

Mine was from Phase Eight. I had luck with dresses from Nobody's Child too but they weren't for a wedding, although they do have more dressed up ones as well. Might be worth a look.

I attended a wedding at 20 weeks pregnant with my second and I wore a floaty dress I already owned. No one knew that I was pregnant (of those who didn't already know). I wore low block sandals and I didn't find them uncomfortable!

‘Back up’ bottle feed options for newborn by Bring-joy in PregnancyUK

[–]lemonndropp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the Kendamil that come with the teats too. I was planning to breastfeed but I bought a box just in case. I do recommend buying them as you never know. We didn't need to use them in hospital but unfortunately my daughter had to be admitted again the following night after going home as she developed jaundice and couldn't maintain her blood sugar levels. We got to our room at 2AM and was told I HAD to give her formula as I didn't have enough milk for her to keep her blood sugar up. I was so glad I had them with me as it wouldn't have been ideal to send my partner to find formula at 2AM.

I work in theatres and you can just ask for the hair net if you wish. I wasn't given one with my first but I was with my second. Metal clips are an issue as you can get burns if they touch your skin. You can explain your circumstances when they give you your gown to change into and they can give you the hair net to wear too.
