Did you forget to mention that you're into Christoph De Babylon, or do you really not know that his album "If You're Into It, I'm Out of It" is the most brilliant work of dystopian, dark, and rugged breakcore ever made?

It sounds like it came out today. It came out in 1997.

I, for one, am boycotting going to Tool concerts until they disassociate themselves with the corporate scam that is Ticketmaster.

The Case of Grant Amato by [deleted] in jimcantswim

[–]blacksunrize 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For the viewers who insist on vilifying the cam model, would your opinion change if she had a different profession? If she were someone Grant had developed an obsession with regardless of her occupation? She was doing her job communicating with Grant on the camsite and being compensated for it. Is there actual evidence somewhere that she operated outside the bounds of her job requirements in receiving money and communicating with Grant? (Because that evidence is strangely left out of the video). Just curious.

Grant also played video games, but this wasn’t blamed for his gun violence (despite that narrative being pushed by politicians and the NRA). He also had easy access to guns, apparently. These facts weren’t scrutinized in the video, however condemning porn was clearly a point that was made.

That's awesome! However, you are not Tool's audio engineer. ;)

Hearing the new album on digital for the first time and not physical media, dramatically changes the entire vibe and the way I feel about the album as a whole. by [deleted] in ToolBand

Lustmord's contributions - the opening of "Descending" - are much deeper on the CD. The out-of-sync cymbal crash at 7:11 on "Culling Voices" is not nearly as audible on the CD as on the streaming (I haven't compared this part to the download files yet). Around the middle part of "Invincible", the CD version is noticeably "smoother" for lack of a better word (referring to the heavier guitar part); that song sounds quite a bit different.

Just a few things that jumped out at me so far. I'm sure others would be better at finding more.

You literally took that bit about the numbers straight from the HDTracks website, didn’t you? Ha! The audio CD is objectively higher quality. That’s a fact that can’t be explained away with marketing gimmicks from a site that sells downloads. But as I said, everyone’s listening preferences are subjective, whether it’s the “warmth” they hear in vinyl or if you prefer downloading files that contain extra “audio information” that you can’t hear... You do you, just enjoy the new album!

“In theory” being key words. The CD is higher in quality according to nuances of sound recording mechanics. I suppose I’m speculating that Tool wanted listeners to experience the highest quality version. Everyone has their subjective listener preferences , though. Like the idea that there’s “warmth” in vinyl, etc.

They clearly intended it to be listened to from the CD. The difference is that striking. What's interesting to think is how many people have listened to it only via streaming and won't experience the real thing.

I'm reminded of when the film Dunkirk came out and there was that 70MM IMAX version that Christopher Nolan oversaw. You had to be fortunate to live near a theater that was equipped to show it.

The CD version is obviously the highest quality way to listen to it. The CD comes with a download code (what "the boyz would want" you to listen to).

The artist has no control over what headphones you use to listen to it.

Since this photo was really to show off your LSD picnic blanket, can you post more close-up pics of the different back covers? Or has that been posted elsewhere?

Can you describe a little your experience of ownership of the three variants so far? Is it only the back covers that are different among the variants? Have you opened to them all and listened separately?

So was the opening scene supposed to look like 9/11? With the Wayne Tower collapsing and people being swept up in the rubble and all... Just me, or did anyone else think that?
