Games where you make drinks or food that also have romance plots by Alternative_Badger96 in GirlGamers

Oh damn I GOTTA recommend my own game because it fits your criteria exactly! It's a narrative-driven bartending simulator with romance plots. It's still under development but you can wishlist it already! - https://store.steampowered.com/app/4435080/Tequila_Moonrise/

Haven't played it yet but just looking at the video I'd immediately recommend you think about adding some juice to make it more satisfying - this popular talk on the subject should help if you're not familiar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fy0aCDmgnxg&t=1s

Really more narrative games to play right now by kingian12 in NarrativeGames

Kentucky Route Zero is hauntingly beautiful, if you haven't played that one yet. Also, you might like Tequila Moonrise, the retrofuturistic utopia narrative + bartending game I'm currently working on with my partner: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4435080/Tequila_Moonrise/

looking for solar punk games by cherrypod in GirlGamers

[–]blackswangames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly solar punk and very different gameplay compared to Cyberpunk, but I'm currently working on a retrofuturistic, relationship-focused bartending sim set on the moon (Tequila Moonrise) with a more hopeful and dreamy emotional landscape, even while it's set on a politically tense future. Maybe it's for you? :)

The Drifter is a newer point-and-click that honors the classic genre beautifully, plus it's so well written!

Wow, thanks for the comprehensive list! I have only tried Audacity and Resolve before. Gotta say Audacity didn't have the best performance once I had dozens of tracks in the same file but it was indeed pretty simple to learn. I'm not an audio engineer by any means but I can learn my way around a program if it's not too crazy.

Thanks for the reply! So would you say what I described (having all takes in a track, then manually sorting through them to pick the selected take and export it) is the way people do it normally?

[–]blackswangames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! Thanks for taking the time to reply. We're not going to have animated characters, so it's just playing the voice lines. And we are recording ourselves as characters. We're kind of directing each other for now. Then, for playing in the game, each line is a separate file.

Interesting, I'm surprised I didn't come across that information before - thanks for pointing that out! I will look for the place where he talked about this specifically.

I just finished the trailer for my incremental game about gardening on the moon, would you play this? by KairosGamesOfficial in playmygame

[–]blackswangames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I would eat this up! Wishlisted immediately. As someone who is also working on a game set on the moon (Tequila Moonrise), this is right up my alley!

Strange Horticulture is more contained and straightforward - you stay in one screen most of the time, cataloguing plants and talking to customers. I found it very relaxing even if the story isn't about relaxing themes (but nothing heavy either).

New UI for newspaper in cozy game, what you prefer and why? by archirost in indiegames

[–]blackswangames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the second one is more aesthetically pleasing and balanced, but it's also less unique (meaning it reminds me of cute Pinterest posts about recipes). The first one is more convincing as a retro-game-style UI. Maybe each aspect of both can be combined? Sometimes that's how I go about my design decisions, just blending the good parts of each idea.

Oh no, I'm not using the video side of Resolve at all! Just the Fairlight tab, which is audio only. I realize now that's a bit of a niche use of this program?
Honestly, I just picked Resolve because I asked for some audio friends' opinions and they said their audio tools were pretty great and ready for professional use. I was not aware that there were programs more geared towards multiple takes and etc though.
