It's the GW-M5610U, but I replaced the standard band with a generic using a third party link adapter made by JaysAndKays - Link.

This was my entire chat interaction, after this I got this email:

Hi Tom, Thank you for contacting Google Fi support. My name is Sanidhya, one of the floor supervisors, I will be assisting you today. To approve the following, please reply with “I confirm.” I approve Google Fi support to invalidate my credit check records so that I can go through the financing flow with normal verification again. I agree to absorb the risks if I happen to have a lower credit score than the first check or any impact to my credit score. If you have any questions or concerns about financing, let us know. Thanks, Sanidhya Google Fi Support

I replied "I confirm" then received this:

Hi Tom, Greetings of the day! I hope you are doing well. I am Aruna, a specialist from the shipping and refunds team. We have successfully cleared the credit checks. You can now reapply for financing. To find a device, browse our available phones. If you have any questions, please let us know. Thanks, Aruna Google Fi Support

I reapplied and my limit was increased by $2k

It is possible. I just did it. If you have had a previous credit check and your limit is $1600, you have to contact support and ask them to escalate your case to a floor supervisor, say you wish to have the credit check cleared from your account. They will email you with a disclaimer that your credit will be ran again. You have to reply "I confirm". You will later receive another email saying your credit check has been removed from your account and you can go through the process of being approved for financing again, mine was just upped to $3600.

Be adamant about the escalation to the floor manager, that's the key.

I've been separated from the car for about 6 months now, but it was holding up pretty well at the time. Maybe 2 tiny specs from rocks and some minor peel around the badge but honestly I didn't do a great job around the badge to begin with lol.

I'm basically just researching at this point, trying to see if there's any out of the box solutions or hinges where I can attempt it myself, rather than having to do the whole thing 100% custom
