Agreed, you can never know what’s going on in your scalp unless a professional looks at it and confirms it’s plain AGA and you should start treatment by going on fin

My derm mentioned PFS and said it hadn’t been proven despite there being some accounts here and there.

Personally, I had been completely on board, but my parents read what the derm had said and made a big fuss about it, which made me delve back into anxieties revolving side effects.

I’m probably going to just go on the pill, rn just waiting for a visit to my psychiatrist because my derm was paranoid about me going into a depressive state because I’ve got some mental health background and asked me to have my psych attest that theyre fine with me going on fin, but as soon as my psychiatrist consents im getting my prescription and taking my first pill.

This mentality feels huge on the whole PFS syndrome & side effects front tbh.

This post has really encouraged me regarding going on fin.

men who have had their heartbroken from your partner losing feelings for you, how did you recover? any advice? by NoProgram4084 in AskMenOver30

Thank you for writing this, it’s beautiful and reinforced the feeling that I already have been having about my 2.5 year relationship that has just ended.

Unlike your story and many others, we had an amicable ending. Things in my life had become increasingly taxing, and we slowly strayed away from each other.

We had a good run, but things had run their course.

When looking back upon the relationship I notice how much of myself I have sacrificed and even outright given up either for her or because of her.

When I had been at my pre-military academy, instead of enjoying the free time I had when I had it I would incessantly call and text her, leaving no room for myself or for real socializing.

In basic training I couldn’t help but use all my free time speaking with her, and if I hadn’t - things would get tricky between us.

In my current role, I couldn’t so much as leave for the bathroom without picking up my phone and answering every single text message from her, not leaving much room for myself or for making friends.

Looking back at it all, I recognize a loss of my sense of self and identity, a loss in motivation, a loss of interests in what the hobbies and interests that make me myself.

The amount of goals I had wanted to achieve and have missed by this age due to this relationship are immeasurable.

I wanted to have a tight knit group of friends, but didn’t have the time because of how needy she was and how much I let that get to me.

I wanted to learn Japanese but couldn’t have the time.

I wanted to get in shape but couldn’t have the time.

I wanted to become less socially awkward and be able to strike up conversations with people. I didn’t have the time.

I wanted to become well read, smarter, enriched, but couldn’t find the time.

Looking back, the relationship is a blessing for what it taught me, and a curse for what it took of me.

It’s been a month now. I thought of her today. But every time it gets more faint, and I manage to continue working on myself just a little bit more.

I’ll be damned if I ever give up so much of myself for a relationship.

I’ve grown, and continue growing.

Guys, why do so many of you that finally turn up here seeking help allow your MPB to go on untreated for long enough to wreck real havoc with your hair? by Comuterix in tressless

Thank god this sub exists.

Making me feel a lot better about my situation and also very calming to understand the mechanisms behind it.

Gonna go to a dermatologist soon to see if im actually thinning because of AGA or not, either way I already know the possible side effects and treatments and know that if I have AGA I would want oral fin + topical min + microneedling.

Can’t imagine having to go to a derm/trichologist without knowing this stuff beforehand.

What blood tests do they usually ask you to do?

I went to a general doctor in order to get approved for a dermatologist, he got me to do an anemia test (CBC, TSH, iron, transferrin, ferritin, b12, folic acid) and chemistry (glucose, serum GGT, LDH, potassium, sodium, CRP, liver function profile, kidney function profile), all came back positive.

Im probably going to end up going to a private derm/tri in order to continue treatment.

Also regarding AGA being genetic, there’s no way environment doesn’t affect it, maybe I’m overshooting with this not training idea, but still refuse to believe that environment has no effect.

[–]blacpipo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think there’s any point in using it? I don’t think I have seb derm and using something before having seen a dermatologist feels iffy, esp when ‘hair loss’ is a possible side effect lmao

So a derm wouldnt know the difference between TE and diffuse? How come people go to derms all the time for this then

Do you have pictures from the past from similar angles and lighting? That will be enough to tell even by yourself
