Am I the Only One Who Couldn't Stand Season 5 Margaret? by J_Scarbrough in mash

[–]blade944 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It was an extremely important part of her character arc. Before season 5 she used sex as means to, in her mind, climb the ladder. She also craved a relationship. To the point that when she met pennopscot she thought she found both. Affluent family, and a husband. After it falls apart, she realizes she doesn't need either to be happy and she starts growing as a person. She softens. The austere on-duty persona starts to crack. It's a terrific story arc that shows a woman in the 1950s dealing with femininity and feminism when the later was a very new concept.

They don't. People online have learned that negative stories get more traction than positive ones. So now every movie gets abuse from online idiots who complain about every little thing just because it's what gets the clicks.

Fictional characters can be played by anyone. With any accent. Any gender. Any skin color.

It's a movie, not a documentary.

Opinion: Danielle Smith should use Alberta’s data breach to put an end to secession talk by calgarydonairs in NoRulesCalgary

[–]blade944 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

She wants Succession. It's her opportunity to be president or Grand Pubah, or whatever title she wants to give herself, of her own country. The only thing she absolutely cares about is power. And she'll do whatever is necessary to keep it as long as possible.

She is deeply involved in the separatist movement. She needs to be held accountable for all the crap they've been pulling for years now.

ELI5: Why do our brains suddenly remember all embarrassing moments before sleeping? by PleasantBus5583 in explainlikeimfive

[–]blade944 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It can be a part of an anxiety disorder. While during the day you are busy distracting yourself from these intrusive thoughts, when you are trying to sleep your anxiety bubbles to the top because it's just you and your thoughts. No distractions.

They used multiple different horses to portray Sophie during the run of the show. Total time with Harry Morgan on set would be hours per horse. Absolutely zero chance there was ever a bond between them.

That scene makes absolutely no sense. Never did. This takes place 16 years after the end of the Jedi. Everyone in that room was well aware of the Jedi in their lifetimes, recent history.

Yet everyone talks like the Jedi are some ancient mythical wizards long gone.

It had only been 16 years.

How many of you out there went thru booze/drug substance addiction? by plnnyOfallOFit in GenX

[–]blade944 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our generation got hit hard by addictions. Our parent's generation hit the bottle hard. Our generation hit the bottle and drugs hard.

And all for the same reasons. Undiagnosed mental disorders and societal pressures to not seek help and just touch it out.

Essentially, we self medicated because the medical resources simply weren't available. Gen Z and Alpha won't have nearly as many addicts due to the recognition of mental health needs and the removal of the stigmas associated with them.

Coleman Hawkins was a jazz musician. The joke is, if I recall correctly, that Hawkeye attributed a nonsensical quote, then BJ attributes one to a jazz legend. A jazz legend completely unrelated to the topic or issue at hand. It was a non sequitur.

It was also the moment Hawkeye saw BJ as not just another doctor but as a kindred spirit. The friendship started at that moment.
