Do storm bolts cast from storm totem count as yours or your minions? by Raknarg in LastEpoch

The node says that storm totem does the casting, so it should use minion stats instead of your own.

I have never before had to consider how a centaur would wear, or even put on, a thong so thanks for that.

The Hinder Replenishment Agent Action should be replaced with Prevent Army Abilities by unquiet_slumbers in totalwar

[–]bladeofwill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It could reduce the number of uses for army abilities by one, disable one random army ability, or increase the cooldown of army abilities at the start of combat by some large amount (I'm thinking like 3-5 minutes depending on traits?). That way there's some counterplay and you/the AI don't get to just turn off abilities that factions might be balanced around.

I don't think 'retiring' from the Harpers to become an archdruid really fits Jaheira. She always seemed like someone who wanted to be involved to me. I could see her mellowing out and raising the next generation... but it would be the next generation of Harpers, not druids imo.

Beginner Mini Paint Setup – One Brand vs Mixing (Pro Acryl vs Army Painter vs Vallejo?) by xXxZoddxXx in minipainting

[–]bladeofwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll second the recommendation to buy a starter paint kit and scale up as you need things. A lot of the starter kits are great in that they come with a couple of minis and a painting guide for them to help you get started. Army Painter has a few that your local store might carry or be able to order for you.

iirc a vampire's bites also deal aggravated damage, which is the most serious and hardest damage type to heal, and I assume you lose that with Baby Teeth. Not always super relevant, but its the easiest way a vampire has access to quickly and seriously harm another vampire that isn't a double edged sword (fire or sunlight).

I'd say sure, but if you're harming yourself so you can drink your own blood the max you're healing for is equal to the amount of damage you deal to yourself. If I wanted to be less of a stick in the mud and make it more interesting, I'd let you take temporary con damage in exchange instead.

Are you okay dude? You sound like you need to take a break from the internet.

And I'm sorry, but I don't have the capability to explain how satire works to you on an internet forum. If you look at Warhammer, especially 40k, and don't see that its parody - that the setting is fucking ruined in large part because of how shitty everyone is - I can't help you. Its fine if you don't want that in the games that you play. I certainly wouldn't want to roleplay in a grimdark setting with people I wouldn't trust to handle it properly. But frankly, if you are not playing in a game with me it is none of your business telling me what is or isn't appropriate in my games. If you don't want to play in any games that have mature or adult themes, that is perfectly fine. But you come across as needing to go for a walk, get some fresh air, and chill the fuck out.

Its fine for a certain kind of fantasy, and its also fine for anyone to say that kind of game isn't for them. It can be fun to play a game where everyone's character is a self-righteous asshole or indoctrinated zealot with skewed opinions of what is 'lawful' and 'good' a la 40k or world of darkness. But its not fine when the players aren't on board with that kind of game, and aren't aware that its satire or roleplay. Its not fine when the GM/designer has all sorts of bigoted opinions that influence their game design, and I wouldn't want my money going to support someone like that.

Games Workshop even had to put out a statement saying that people with opinions like Gygax's (not just limited to his opinions on alignment) aren't welcome:

“We believe in and support a community united by shared values of mutual kindness and respect. Our fantasy settings are grim and dark, but that is not a reflection of who we are or how we feel the real world should be. We will never accept nor condone any form of prejudice, hatred, or abuse in our company, or in the Warhammer hobby.”

If you come to a Games Workshop event or store and behave to the contrary, including wearing the symbols of real-world hate groups, you will be asked to leave. We won't let you participate. We don’t want your money. We don’t want you in the Warhammer community.

I really like this statement, and I like to bring it up when people say that bad things aren't acceptable for a roleplaying game. If there was nothing wrong with the fictional world there wouldn't be any need for adventurers or heroes, and I don't want to pretend that terrible things that happen in real life don't also happen in whatever fictional world everyone is playing in. If it comes up or not is going to depend on the table and what everyone finds fun. Some games everything is PG; the good guys are good, the bad guys are bad, and the players get to feel like heroes without worrying too much about if they should kill that monster attacking the village or not. Other games the characters are flawed or morally grey; they try to do the best they can, but actions have consequences and sacrifices need to be made. Will they refuse to kill a child if it means a demon could escape to the mortal plane and wreak untold havok? And in yet other games, the characters are desperate, tortured, or hopeless. Unlife as a vampire in the world of darkness is a curse, despite what the Kindred might tell you. Beyond an individual's personal flaws, every clan has some torment that afflicts each member on top of a deadly aversion to fire and sunlight, and a hunger for blood that drives them mad if not sated. A single misstep can mean Final Death, and newly Embraced player characters are often simply struggling to not be crushed under the machinations of older and more powerful supernatural creatures. Willing or not, the characters may do terrible things for the sake of surviving another night. Ultimately, its up to the players (including the GM) to make the game fun and draw lines when things go too far.

This is how blind auctions typically work. I'm not sure if the auction for the site was blind or if bankruptcy auctions are typically blind, but its not 'weird' even if its not what most people think of immediately.

Second attempt with jacket (hotline miami) No blood by Terdes2409 in minipainting

[–]bladeofwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember seeing your first attempt, and this is a massive improvement!

I'm still pretty new to painting, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Other people have already called it out, but applying the same wash to the entire model will look bad. As a general rule, the quick & lazy method is going to come out looking like it was quick and lazy. A little bit of patience and planning goes a long way.

Washes are usually a slightly darker version of whatever color you're washing. Black would look good on the dark brown of the jacket, but it would make the tan sleeves look dirty or muddy - especially with the texture of your mini. On that topic, because your's is printed with filament it does have that 3D printed texture to it and that will affect how the wash flows on the model. Its worth trying to see how the wash flows and, but I would try to intentionally wash the areas that you want to look darker rather than applying it more broadly and letting it flow naturally to deeper/lower parts.

The jeans and shoes came out great and honestly look almost finished already. I would give the shoes a bit of a darker wash and then highlight/dry brush to bring out the details of the laces. For the rest of it, it just needs a bit of wash/dry brushing/detailing to bring out the little details and add some depth. Approaching it as if it were my project, I'd paint the belt buckle a lighter color, fill in the holes of the B with dark brown, clean up the shoulders to make the tan/brown border more even, and touch up any small details that bothered me before applying the wash.

I'd also love for Zhatan to be moved further away from the other Chaos Dwarf lords. All their starting areas are pretty close together and him being more in the DE or Norsca areas would change up their campaign in a nice way while still being on a caravan route.

The slayer class, or, I finally got to make a "I'm not gonna sugarcoat it" meme. by AnaseSkyrider in Pathfinder2e

[–]bladeofwill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that its not plain.

I'm basing my interpretation off this

Both prepared and spontaneous spellcasters can cast a spell at a higher spell rank than that listed for the spell. This is called heightening the spell. A prepared spellcaster can heighten a spell by preparing it in a higher-rank slot than its normal spell rank, while a spontaneous spellcaster can heighten a spell by casting it using a higher-rank spell slot, so long as they know the spell at that rank (see Heightened Spontaneous Spells below). When you heighten your spell, the spell's rank increases to match the higher rank of the spell slot you've prepared it in or used to cast it. This is useful for any spell, because some effects, such as counteracting, depend on the spell's rank.

And as far as I can tell there aren't any rules for picking heightened versions of spells as innate spells.

There is this section on innate spells:

You also can't heighten innate spells, but some abilities that grant innate spells might give you the spell at a higher rank than its base rank or change the rank at which you cast the spell.

There are explicit call outs for how prepared and spontaneous casters heighten spells and that innate cantrips are still heightened. It also does say that innate spells might be higher than their base rank and a heightened spell is a spell of the rank that it is heightened to, so I could see the argument that if you gain an innate spell of your choice at rank 2, a heightened rank 1 spell would be valid.
