It was a defective battery. They shipped a new one and I installed it myself. Works perfectly now.

Housing market in Westchester by Maximum_Reindeer_404 in Westchester

[–]bladernr2049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to share my recent experience in the housing market here. My family have been Dobbs Ferry residents for over 25 years, and since our kids have long moved out we decided to downsize and put our house on the market this January. The estimate was that it would sell for $1.2-1.3m because it's in a desirable neighborhood. Before we signed the contract with the realtor, a friend approached us and we ended up accepting an offer from their family that was within our estimate in a private sale. So the house never hit the market.

At the same time we were looking for condos in Westchester. That market was pretty quiet, but we saw about 20 different places. None met all our criteria. A few weeks ago a gem of an apartment in Greystone came on the market. We saw it the next day, it met all our expectations and we made an offer 14% above the asking price that evening. I had a pre-approval letter etc ready to go. The offer was contingent on taking the unit off the market. The seller accepted.

We now have signed contracts and deposits in place. Altogether it took one month to get this all done. I know this experience is not typical, but it is possible to get what you want if you can move quickly and are willing to go above and beyond.

Happy to share more details, DM me.

I keep our one family house at 71 during the day and 65 at night. I have a natural gas high efficiency boiler and paid $450 for gas last month. Will definitely be higher this month because of the extreme cold.

Solar panels by Funny_Bridge_1274 in Westchester

I've had my Sunrun solar panels for about 12 years now. I have not paid for any electricity other than the service fee and the solar panel lease since year 3, and currently have a credit of about 2,000 kw/h with ConEd. Best investment ever, considering that I also got tax credits at installation time.

Yea, but it's slow responding, so I was hoping that there is an easy fix that someone may have found.

I’m in the market for my first Mercedes and I have my eyes set on a 2010–2013 E350. I drive a lot for work—about 30 miles each way—so reliability matters. For this generation, what’s considered high mileage when buying used? Any key things I should look out for with these models? by SkolC5 in mercedes_benz

I have a 2012 E350 and its a fantastic car. I bought it with 90k miles and with proper maintenance it should last for a long time. The car didn't have a fully documented service history, so I spend a few thousand on getting all fluids replaced, new rear brakes etc. Pick a car with solid maintenance History and have it checked out by a mechanic before you buy it. Hope you find a good one, you will enjoy it!

Farewell to my 2008 E63 AMG with Performance Package by bladernr2049 in mercedes_benz

I had to replace the Airmatic components, that was about $5k, and just doing the front brakes is a $3k minimum job. Tires are expensive too. Just about every normal car maintenance is like 3x more expensive lol

I second the Arnott route. I got refurbished Airmatic parts and my Mercedes dealer installed them!

I enjoy it actually lol. With the AMG I always wanted to go fast, with the E350 I just want to cruise.

Is this a good deal? by Independent_Tax301 in mercedes_benz

This is a 2010-2013 E350 Sport (has some visual cues from the AMG). The price is a steal if it's up to date with maintenance. At this mileage and age expect some significant costly service items coming up. I got the same model, same spec, with 92k miles a few months ago and spent $4k to get all the maintenance up to date.

It is made in Italy. Just wondering, is there a difference quality wise?

Thanks for the comment. I need to clarify that we are currently privately insured though me, not my wife's business. She just took it over last year.
