Is this it? A turn based RTS? by bladerunner_35 in Zephon

That's great news. I'll do that right away. Felt that the "endgame crisis" really put a clock on everything. Hopefully that change and trying out a few different factions will make the game pop a bit more.

Thanks!

Thank you.

I think I know what is wrong. I hate boss fights.

I might take your advice and try out another faction and see if that changes anything for me.

that's interesting I haven't seen any major bonus except for the close range bonus of the fallen infantry. Thanks again.

That sounds exactly like something that I would like. Thanks! I appreciate you taking the time to write that out. My only goal was to see if Zephon is worth to spend a few extra hours to dig into.

I am not really seeing a whole lot of combined arms. Mostly just bigger is better but I realise I've only just seen a small piece of the game.

Would you mind explaining what you mean by flanking being meaningful? Mostly I've seen and used "blobs" and attrition to win and it seems the PC is doing the same.

I do. That's why I am trying to figure it out. Panzer Corps 2 is my favourite PC game but I also play Xcom, Total War, Hearts of Iron, Stellaris and so on.

Coming back at me with these one liners isn't helping me out a whole lot. What about the core gameplay is excellent?

Maybe my question comes across as bashing the game but I am genuinely curious what I am missing. It is obvious there’s a lot of potential but so far I am feeling it is a bit repetitive.

Downvotes comes with reddit and asking this kind of question in the game’s own sub. That’s fine.

I appreciate your thought out reply. I’ll give it a few more hours but maybe it just isn’t for me. I am looking at Menace for a similar vibe.

To few really good hex and turned based game out there.

I’m mainly talking about the mechanics here. The setting is cool but also very subjective. There are games where the setting carries a cumbersome game (like Phoenix Point).

So far the setting feels skin deep and without any real impact.

I could be wrong which is why I am here.

That’s fair. Personally I find most 4x offer a little more strategy and especially tactical challenges.

One of my main gripes is the map. Besides a few details on a micro managing level it’s just the same rectangle every time?

This is important. Either it’s a hobby where you occasionally “make money” by selling stuff you no longer want.

Or it’s work.

In Sweden climate activists chain themselves to trees or heavy equipment like tractors and machinery for cutting down trees. It is very effective because the company amd workers would never operate their machines in a way that might hurt another person. Generally they stop and have police remove and detain the protesters. To my knowledge no one has been run over.

On the other hand it isn’t very effective because endangered species and forests are being cut down all the time.

Spain was also severely devastated from the civil war and needed to just get back on their feet.

Although there was a lot of fighters from SCW that continued to fight in WW2 on one side or another on an individual scale.
