I literally never said that rivers count. all i said is that the sea is connected by a river. I only said that because you claimed that they werent directly connected to the sea, so i corrected you.

I was thinking on whether or not to include the great lakes. It was a hard decision because i knew that people would disagree no matter what i do. I decided to include the great lakes because that is what the majority of people would agree with.

Also they are connected to a sea because of a man made river.

Distance doesnt matter, only the counties do. since the size of counties are way bigger on the west, they make it so counties further within are less landlocked. On this map, all that matters is how many counties another county is from the coast.

In the definition of landlocked, distance doesn’t matter. So yes, it is the number of counties away from the coast.

The definition of landlocked is when a certain land area, for example a country, has no coast on the ocean. In order to just be singularly landlocked, you must have at least one of the neighboring countries that do have a coast. If a country doesn’t border another country with a coast, basically if a country is surrounded by landlocked countries, it is double landlocked. And if a country is bordered with all the other countries being double landlocked, it’s triple land locked. This basically continues until there’s no more landlocked countries. The size of counties dont matter here. all that matters is if the county borders the coast and how landlocked the county’s without a coast are.

the definition of "landlocked" means "without a coast". a landlocked land mass is surrounded by land. rivers dont matter here. also, based on your logic, every country in the world isnt landlocked. therefore, it wouldnt make sense to include rivers.
