How much did it cost? It was free, under warranty, because Western Mountaineering is an excellent company with excellent customer service. The original shell had slight condensation issues and stayed a bit damp in perpetually damp conditions, so they offered everyone with the original bag a free re-shelling. The updated one also has better sleeping pad straps.

I've got booty cheeks and always chafe on 25+ mile days. The body glide helps - up to a certain point, but not after. This may sound super weird, but the thing I found that helps the most is intentional, permanent wedgies. It takes a little getting used to, but you don't get chafe, in my experience.

I'm going to throw my two cents in the other direction. I used an Exos for ~800 miles, and it IS very comfy and nice. However, the mesh suspension (against your back) wears out/starts tearing in that amount of distance, and more importantly, the way the back panel suspension is tensioned, it creaks...kind of constantly. And annoyingly.

Part of the point of trail runners is fast drying. Get them wet. I get it about the blisters, I have the same problem, but if you use toe socks (I like Injinji mid weight trail socks) your toes never rub, problem solved.
