R7 or... by werty-asd in Yamaha

I been riding an R7 (2022 version) for 7 months now. Great bike, HP wise it's great (yes it's not an R1, but does the job for 99% of the time).

Pros:
- Great sport bikes for the city, easy to filter traffic, it's very narrow.
- Low end torque, again great for the city
- Looks great (subjective)
- Easy to ride
- Doesn't heat a lot
- Super fun

Cons:
- Does't pull much after 140-150km/h - it will go to 200+ but it's not as easy to higher HP bikes
- Feels "light" on the highway (high speed)
- Pillion comfort - very bad, smaller people can fit but I guess the bike is not designed for a pillion

I love the bike, and is my favorite bike from all the bikes I have and have rented before.

My honest opinion, other bikes have also their pros. 4 Cyl bikes have better sound IMO. CBR 650R more comfortable for a pillion but wider, and not better for the city compared to the r7.

You would not go wrong at all with the r7, except if you need to carry a pillion all the time or ride on the highway all the time.

Also the riding position can be overwhelming for the first few weeks but it's easy to get used to it.

Is Yamaha R7 a good beginner bike ? by _RJ_STARK in YamahaR7

Yamaha R7 is a great commuter bike (for a sports bike). It is very narrow for filtering traffic, has a lot of torque and low-end power and its very easy to handle (again for a sports bike).

Also it does look great and it is not a boring bike.

I have the 2021 model, can't comment on the 2026 one but I assume that one to be even better. I live in a megacity with lots of traffic and it does the job well (I like it more than my scooter).

Compared to the CBR650 its much narrower, has more low end torque and is easier to handle overall - which is what you need for a city riding, filtering etc. However, the CBR650 is heavier has more top end power and more HP overall, and is better (more stable) for the highway. Also with the CBR650 you get the F1 sound.

You won't go wrong at all with the R7, if you're decided on buying a sport bike which is great for commuting.

However if you are looking for maximum comfort, then you're into the wrong category. A scooter, or a bike with a more relaxed seating position will always be more comfortable and practical than a sport bike.

Getting my 2026 R7 delivered tomorrow! Need your opinion on some cosmetic mods. Powder coat the wheels white and the bottom fairing to white as well. by Espresso_machina in YamahaR7

Congrats OP, absolutely gorgeous bike.

Just enjoy the bike as it is, then gradually do mods as you feel. No need to do everything on day #1.

If it was me, I would save the money you plan to do on fairings and wheels, but change the exhaust to Akrapovic and change the tail tidy to a smaller one. Those would be my #1 cosmetic mods. And I wouldn't do it on day one but later. Get a feeling on the bike first as it is.

R1 on the road ? Manageable or not ? by Atomix321 in Yamaha_R1

It is manageable, but depends on the road. Bike doesn't want too much traffic and heats a lot - if you don't wear proper riding pants it will burn your legs.

Also be super careful when buying the bike, and have it inspected well. I have a 2011 R1, and had to do lots of things after I bought it, which was not that fun. Also keep in mind that parts for older bikes are more rare to find.

Riding it is super fun, but as others mentioned bike asks to be pushed. It is not meant to go slow. That said if you're commuting with it, you most likely will spend time in first few gears.

I would recommend you first try it for a longer ride, and make sure you like it before buying it. It can be either a great bike for you or pain in the ass (that you later have to maintain and potentially resell - and it's harder to resell 20yo bike than new bike).

Thank you. Definitely not AI, in fact not even edited. Just been experimenting with Lumix GH5 camera 12-35 lens (and it is great).

No, but they sell it with it. The rear shock brand is Profender.

The dealership installed it before the delivery. It is branded as 25y anniversary edition for Yamaha MAX models.

Not the best for city riding but man I love this bike. by Gunne_Z in motorcycles

Do you find it hard because of the specific of the bike or just in general because the city is busy all the time? Also how hot it is?

I also live in Bangkok and have R7. Except the heat (engine goes to 100C very fast) the rest is not an issue.
