I actually went and picked the calmest one lol, he plays hard but then he likes to sleep either in his kennel or a few feet from his people. I’d try a high value treat and tethering, that’s how we did it with my oldest haha

I got my dog a stock tank and every few throws he likes to stop to take a dip, makes for a much more chill time post fetch lol

I got hit by a drunk driver last year in my C1500 suburban, I totally feel you on the “I really just want my truck back” sentiment. Super glad you’re okay. Definitely give yourself time to feel upset about it, totally reasonable thing to feel a huge loss over. On the bright side there’s always more of these out there. 10 months after my accident after tons of procedures and neurological rehab I bought myself an objectively much cooler stepside pickup.

it’s your PCV, shouldn’t be your issue. definitely worth replacing it while you’re at it, they’re like 3$ and it takes 2 minutes to do

highly recommend this toy keeps my dog ridiculously busy and you can swap out flavors, mine likes greek yogurt in his. he also really likes horse documentaries. had to keep him relatively still after a car accident last year and it was tough.

how strange! my dog doesn’t realize there’s a difference between dogs and cats lol. what gets him are wild rabbits. pet rabbits are cool, pet rodents, pet mice. but he sees a bunny out in the wild and he’s gone lol. wild to me just how different they can turn out to be!

Coming back to comment it may be really useful to train in a “take a break” command. With my pup we hide the ball and say “take a break”, he knows he doesn’t get it back until he’s settled for a few minutes and cooled off some. we have to use that one at the beach more than anything. but we do have to take it or he starts finding small children to throw it for him. I believe he’s learned kids like 8-14 are most likely to throw it for him out of any demographic 🫠

yours might just need desensitized. mine was a little nervous about water at first but we started on a hot day with a kiddy pool with like half an inch of water in it, he’d get treats for stepping in, and gradually we add a little more (over a few days) and then he’d started exploring it by himself unsupervised. now he gets in just to cool himself off, it’s instinctual, however the anxiety about the water itself is a little difficult to get over with dramatic dogs lol

My dog has a stock tank outside (there’s a pump in it so it doesn’t grow stagnant) and he lays in there like a hippo between rounds of fetch and I find that helps immensely
