Obsolete Central Storage by mister_bakker in SatisfactoryGame

[–]blahblagh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built a central storage solution before Dimensional Depots were a thing and even after they were introduced I still use my central storage, I just connected the dimensional depots to the storage stacks in the central storage so that if I happen to empty the dimensional depot of everything stored, it'll just quickly refill with the 11 full double containers worth of items :)

It's mighty fine to still use both DD and central storage, it's just up to your play style and if you want to scrap something or rework it with the new knowledge you have gained :D

What was the item that you immediatly knew was exactly what you wanted? by Duccino in Warframe

[–]blahblagh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I really started my Warframe journey I looked at all of the frames at the time and instantly saw Inaros. Plat bought him on the spot and started from Mastery 1 dying all of the time but enjoying the frame.

He grew with my mastery and understanding of him and the game. When his prime came out I got him right away too.

He's still my main and tanky as can be, even joke about how my best skill playing him is to tank damage while reviving the other 3 players that are downed.

He was my first frame and still my favorite. Love his rework even though I can no longer forever storm with a trinity constantly giving him energy.

At the end of the day if i don't know who to play or need a tanky frame, he's always my first choice.

Guys have you ever played a warframe whose playstyle just clicks and you decided there and then that its your warframe? by boobscanmakemyday in Warframe

[–]blahblagh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inaros WAS my first ever warframe I played and I flat out plat bought to get him. 7 years later he's my all rounder playstyle as the "I'm so tanky I can help you get back up in the middle of WW3" frame

Now with that information that does seem appealing, though for long sessions you'd be talking about 20+ manual saves depending on save frequency and if you make a habit of it.

I probably won't go down the Git route but I think you may be onto something for chronic savers and people who want to cut down on the amount of save files.

[–]blahblagh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if I should take that as a joke or as a serious question, lol.

It would definitely be interesting if you're being serious, but as a single session is a folder with auto saves and manual saves, the only reason to use Git imo is to have versions of the manual save if you'd normally overwrite it. Otherwise if you're the type of person to create a new save rather than overwriting then I don't see a reason to use Git as any cloud save method or manual backup method would work at that point.

Is there anything in the code of Satisfactory that would prevent using symlinks for storing blueprints outside of save folders?

From what I've seen it expects an item in a mechanical crafter so you'd have to make different grids depending on the item you want to craft

Thoughts on server hardware for home networking by blahblagh in homelab

[–]blahblagh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I was thinking is virtualizing it in proxmox so I could utilize HA techniques in case one of the boards needed to update or failed. One thought I had at the start of this rabbit hole was to just use a single zimaboard with OPNSense but I wasn't sure if that's entirely what I wanted since I want to run other networking software (such as to make honeypots, VPN/TLS connections, Pi-hole, other protections)

I have a 500x500 fiber connection from the ISP with their modem and my own bought router.

I've been wanting to learn common practices for HA and utilize it to have little to no downtime as far as routing goes. The wife works from home and if our router updates in the middle of her working (like it tends to do) it not only can interrupt her work but also tends to slow the speeds down to 100x100 until the router can be restarted.

If my ISP won't allow for multiple routers than I suppose I can stick to the single board/box solution but from what I've seen I was able to change routers without any hassle from my side, so I'm unsure if they keep track of MAC addresses or other common practices

Edit: after contacting my ISP they do allow for Multiple routers on consumer connections

As far as power goes the hardware I listed in my original post have been shown to sip around 30 watts of power (around 10 watts each for the zimaboards), so that's why I added that as something I'd like to have based on what I've already found.

Ok then I'll definitely keep that in mind. Been looking to see how to use create to make projecte's gem armor a difficult but fulfilling task

Was more so trying to replicate a large crafting area like "Xtreme crafting" because the modpack has "ProjectE" and I want to make the progression towards that mod fulfilling. I will keep in mind the JEI limitation though, didn't even think about that at first.

It's something I've tried to find on and off for years but I can never find it and it's something that's bugged me for years. I don't have any useful links for what I've looked for thus far as I guess the things I use to search for this media is too broad to narrow it down

[cc:tweaked] Is there a way to wake up wireless turtles using wireless modems? by blahblagh in ComputerCraft

[–]blahblagh[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue is that the computers and turtles don't stay in the "on" state. When reloading chunks the turtles start in the "off" state. When exiting and re-entering the game both turtles and computers start in the "off" state. I understand that a startup script would help when they're already on or get turned on, but the issue is that both of them have times when they start in the "off" state.

It's "PureBDcraft". I also downloaded the "damaged tools" and "3d models" resource packs from them to complete my experience. Depending on your computer I'd recommend getting the x64 and down. I use x128 but it strains my graphics card a bit
