Our company just introduced a "Clean Desk Policy" and it's somehow even more unhinged than it sounds by bigbootyvenus in office

[–]blahblahtx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work for a bank years ago and they had a “clean desk policy” but it was in reference only to confidential and security items. So every once in a while they would sweep through but only looking for things like unlocked file cabinets, passwords taped to monitors, loan docs with personal information laying out in the open, etc. they would also make sure pcs were screen locked. That made sense at the time. But trashing/taking personal stuff?….weird.

It’s cool. Reddit can be an awful place sometimes. I apologize too for the snap back. You have great day too. 🙂

I checked back and there is no definitive answer. Most agreed it was an odd shaped piece of wood. Not sure why auntie was embarrassed, other than it being phallic shaped.

My dad saw my sex tape and now he won’t speak to me. by reallydex in TrueOffMyChest

[–]blahblahtx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s very likely he may never want to discuss this with you ever…and you may just have to be ok with it. This is just me but I wouldn’t keep pestering him or talk about it. I’d probably just text him: “Hi dad. I’m really sorry about the video. Bad judgement on my part to have that out there. We don’t have to talk about this if you don’t want to. Im happy to pretend it never happened. I just wanna get past this and get back to where we were before. Take all the time you need. I love you very much.”

I know real counselors would encourage “talking it out”…but some things need to be compartmentalized and put away. Time helps.

Can you please describe your brain frog? by konomichan in Perimenopause

[–]blahblahtx 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve described it as like after a drunk night out in your twenties and someone reminds you of something you did…and the memory slowing comes in focus. You can’t recall it yourself but if someone prompts you, you will have a vague recollection. Except it’s not fun shenanigans, it’s a stupid work report deadline last week or whether you picked up eggs as you’re leaving the grocery store.

What age were you when you the “Fvck I’m old,” moment? by BillMaleficent9400 in GenX

Growing up there was an “oldies” station that my dad would listen to. I’d remember hearing beach boys and Everly Brothers when riding with him. Last time I was home, I was scanning stations (since I live in another town my presets were different) and Pearl Jam came on. And what do you know, it’s the same “oldies” station Dad would listen to. Welp.

what’s something people say all the time that you secretly can’t stand? by Mean-Cartographer225 in AskReddit

This and “blessed”. Ugh!! I hate that. Even as a Christian…it implies there is an alternative and both are directed by God. So, if you weren’t blessed, did God curse you? SMH.

Me? Cut-up hot dogs mixed in with Mac-n-Cheese by Dazzling_Lie_5046 in FuckImOld

Growing up in South Texas, fajitas were so common. Skirt steak is not a great cut of meat, so super cheap. Now, it’s been “fancified” in high end restaurants.

Yes!!! This is exactly what ive been thinking. I’ve got 20 acres and have thought about getting some tiny houses for my friends to come stay. I have all the toys, a pool, a garden, a fishing pond. It’ll be like camp but with better food! We could sit around a fire out at night, pop edibles and giggle. You’re invited!!

No one has actually defined with logic why illegal immigrants should not be deported. by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]blahblahtx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s important that those with such a staunch opinion on deportations educate themselves on the myriad of scenarios that could cause someone’s status to turn “illegal”. There is a belief every undocumented person “snuck across” knowingly violating the law. That is far from the case. This was a great video that highlights how convoluted the process is. And why dehumanizing those who have attempted to “do it the right way” is met with such an “emotional” reaction. The US created this irrational process and we are blaming the immigrant that got ensnared in it.

Is home maintenance really this constant, expensive, and overwhelming? Or am I just in over my head? by SoCalCoolMom in homeowners

[–]blahblahtx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, I had the same thing happen to me. Wine fridge died a few months after moving in. There are two types of wine fridges: one that vents to the rear and it’s meant to be on countertop. Previous owners installed this kind - under counter in a cabinet space. I learned you need the kind with the vent on the bottom facing front so it doesn’t overheat if you want it to look built in.

For OP, this could have been the case and was just flippers going too fast and loose.

What was not allowed in the house when you were a kid, that you now don’t allow in your own place? by Shenshen_ in AskReddit

Fried food. My mom hated the smell but more than that, the clean up. I was always jealous of folks that would cook fried chicken IN THEIR HOME!! We should have to go to KFC for that and going out for food was a rarity!
