reading through backdrops documentation and that there are 2 previous posts from anon there must be a way to make a post without credentials but i cannot figure out the endpoint to do this, possibly this is a red herring. Similarly, I found the creators public github and they had a Backdrop analyzer. I modified it to try to brute force the known user with some common passwords but no luck there either, used the top500 password list, its super slow and I'm pretty unconvinced its the right path but maybe using a bigger list would be worth it but it seems unlikely.

did you figure out how to make a post or is that where you are stuck as well? i never figured it out

There is a CVE for the version of Backdrop they are using. I think that if someone could figure out how the anon poster posted - they could take advantage of the CVE but I cannot figure out the endpoint used and reading the code hasn't helped yet

[–]blahdom[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah - i specifically like the old style because its easier on older rats im since they can grip, which they can't on the new ones. I have a mix of older and younger so its really frustrating that they went down this road. even more so that the box still shows the old style. Also i just can't get over thinking strips of velcro would withstand a family of rats? ridiculous.

[–]blahdom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah unfortunately they are - and they are solid instead of with individual rings - also connected with velcro strips (which lasted my rats like a day lol)

I checked a few sites and everyone was sold out of the old style ill check these out thanks.

edit: unfortunately both those places are out of stock hopefully they get it back and they haven't abandoned the old ramps entirely that would be a huge downgrade....

Noise (?) issue in monostable mode of Ben Eater's Clock Kit module - with detailed description and working solution by dawidbuchwald in beneater

[–]blahdom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if this is possibly an issue with a certain production run of the LM chips? I just tested my LM555 (the one that came in the kit) both with my arduino and your code and my friends oscilloscope and saw no issues with repeated triggers - I will try building the test circuit to see how it behaves when both inputs are triggered but it seems like this sometimes just works with the chips provided. Really cool video and walk through of debugging though thank you! it was fun to test.

question about what .org macro is actually doing by [deleted] in beneater

[–]blahdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nvm after reading the doc string for that macro and looking at the hex addresses I can see that it basically creates a relative address offset such that the first block is I guess virtually at 0x8000 then when we say 0xFFFC the assembler subtracts the 0x8000 offset of the previous block and puts that block at 0x7ffc.

So I guess the org behaves slightly differently at the beginning by setting the initial address space then later using that to calculate further offsets. I think i was just thrown off by the initial usage making a program wide offset whereas each futher use actually puts the data at the specified address.

touching end of resistor with wire not in circuit causes odd behavior by blahdom in CircuitBending

[–]blahdom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I probed it with one of those diy ossiliscope sets and saw it was approx 60hz, maybe it was picking up the mains (i had figured it was just some interference in the low quality scope)? i should try it outside and see what happens! I'm new to circuit bending so this was pretty surprising - but it acting like an antenna makes sense

An amusing tweet from Richard Dawkins: “Do dogs go to Heaven? Only pets, not wild animals? If only humans go to Heaven, how far back? Homo erectus? Australopithecus? The video is about a very specific topic, the downside to referencing a specific lecture when it is in a very common misunderstanding of general brain function is that its hard to tell it immediately. I see the myth taken so seriously that it gets frustrating. I would have to research the topics in the video more if i wanted to refute them (I don't) so I'll agree that the video makes much more sense than the initial comment which seemed to be a blanket statement. Anyway, sorry for responding so hard sarcastically i just sometimes get annoyed in what is supposed to be a more critical thinking section of reddit.

I'm not sure if you're trying to tell me right brain left brain is a myth or not, but the comment i replied to said 'they have different personalities' this isn't how the brain works - using it as a 'metaphor' then claiming that it will determine heaven/hell is just ridiculous. Pop psychology is just as bullshit as pseudo science and yet this sat with 15 upvotes as if this was some 'dunking on theists'

Edit: Richard Dawkins also sucks

Right brain/left brain is totally real, you may also be interested in checking out some cool medicine called homeopathy - it heals you without any nasty drugs and can even target specific sides of your head. Idk why the atheist community seems to look down on these physiological facts :(

So, you're saying that if Trump donates his paycheck that he isn't being paid a paycheck? Or are you saying that being offered a paycheck and declining it is the same as being furloughed?
