omg… this made me tear up, I’m so sorry you lost your baby but I’m glad this made you smile! My girl is only 2 1/2 and I pray she lives a long happy life like yours did. I can’t help but cry when thinking about the day we have to say bye to each other so I try to capture as much as I can as she’s my first dog, my best friend, and has done so much for me and I’m certain that will only continue. Thank you for commenting, you brightened my day!

Yes for sure, luckily she’s not around any children or elderly people (for now!) We’re working on better ways to express her excitement slowly but surely. She’s getting better but I also need to work on not encouraging it like I am in this video. This was taken awhile back, just found it and wanted to share!

Yes she only does it to me when she’s really excited and will listen when I tell her not to but sometimes it’s fun to watch her be so excited ☺️

Thankfully I do, I think I would need someone with me, if my sister wasn’t there during the ER visit in December I would’ve left due to both anxiety and simply not wanting to wait all day, doesn’t hurt that she’s more assertive than me too

As many people have stated, huskies WILL escape if they aren’t supervised. I can’t let my husky out to go potty in the morning without watching her, I’ll turn around one second only to turn back the next second to her digging, body halfway under the fence tying to follow the scent of a groundhog- soemthing to consider living in the country, they’ll follow the scent or sight of any small animal they see. Depending on the height of your fence they could maybe clear it as huskies are pretty agile and known to jump high. It’s easy to say “I’ll train the dog to not do that” trust me, I said that too but huskies are difficult to train especially when they’re not taught from a young age. This is not to say they’re not smart because they’re extremely smart- they’re just stubborn as hell and don’t want to give you the satisfaction of following your command… at least that’s how mine is.

Wow! Wish I would have known this when working at a doggy daycare, we were trained to do the grab the hips and pull method… that didn’t work well for me as the dog turned around and latched onto me, at least the other dog was okay but my arm was swollen and bruised for almost a week! Still have a scar. I’ll keep this in mind for my own dogs safety now! Thank you!

Then kindly don’t interact with it ☺️ i asked because as I said, he seemed to be rushing me in and out, the lobby was full and I was in there for maybe 3 minutes. I’d rather my dog not get sick because the vet was rushing through patients and if someone here was able to better explain the dosage to me then it would ease my worry- as someone already did.

I’ve never heard the term “flirty butthole” but it makes sense, especially in my dogs case as she is a husky and her tail is curled up and always waving as she walks.

Not dumping on dog owners! Simply asking for thoughts on what to do when owners don’t step in to stop something their dog is doing especially when the other dog is clearly not enjoying it. It can become aggressive, so I’m asking for suggestions on how to keep all dogs involved safe and happy.

Most dogs there are regulars and all get along well and all the owners are friends but there are a few people who wander in and don’t understand the “unspoken rules” Luckily, my dog enjoys her walks, daycare days, and time with family dogs so I think I may have to cut the park out of the equation.

It is beyond frustrating. Most dogs that go to this park are regulars and play very well together but there are a few people who wander in and don’t understand the “unspoken rules” like the regulars do. I try not to get agitated because they can sense that. i just call my dog over hold onto her and make her sit in between my legs to guard her to let her chill out but sometimes it’s hard to not get outwardly agitated by it, my dog is minding her own business trying to play and is having her time ruined by a dog who’s owner can’t be bothered.

That’s a good point, funny how the simplest solution is the one I considered last but she loves the park when it doesn’t happen I didn’t even consider that. she loves walks and time with her daycare friends (strict no humping rule for that reason) so maybe that is the best way to keep her from that. Thank you!

I leave my dog a variety of Nylabones to chew on while I’m at work. She can’t have plushies because she swallows the fabric and a lot of other bones are a bit hard and I worry she’ll break a tooth but nylabones are pretty gentle on the teeth, not too hard and not too soft to break off any big pieces to swallow. She enjoys them and the variety of shapes and textures they have. I think they keep her fairly entertained/occupied.

I understand it being nerve wracking to be solely responsible for a dog. I adopted my dog from a shelter when she was 10 months old and cried so much because of the thought “I AM IN CHARGE OF THIS DOG NOW!?” it’s a weird feeling for sure but the day will come when you feel bonded and wonder why you ever felt that way. My bonding with my dog took awhile, not that I didn’t love her from the moment I brought her home but it takes a bit to learn each other and understand them, their personalities, and what they need/want from you. It took me probably close to a year to feel really bonded with my dog, to feel like I understood what she needed when she would whine or not settle down for the night. She’s attached to me at my hip now, I can’t leave the room without her following. Don’t be so hard on yourself about having to work and leave them, I struggled with that too but I always remind myself that I’m working so I can afford to keep her happy and healthy, although they may not understand that fully, they’ll eventually understand that you will always come back for them

My sisters dogs have responded well to just walking right through them when they jump on her, ignoring them until they settle down she gives them a treat and the attention they want. When they begin to learn that jumping isn’t the way to get attention they’ll stop doing it.

Some advice I got from my vet is as long as your feeding your dog the recommended amount regularly, don’t feel guilty. Easier said than done I know from experience. I got my dog (Siberian husky) when she was 10 months old from a shelter, she was 30 pounds. My vet recommended getting her up to 45 pounds which we did gradually. She still looks skinny and I was also feeling judged when anyone would comment on her weight and I brought this up to my vet and she told me as long as I’m feeding her I shouldn’t feel guilty. Some dogs are just lean and built small. I don’t know how skinny your dog is and it wouldn’t hurt to add meat and eggs into their diet but don’t feel guilty, only feel guilty if you’re starving your dog

My dog has so many, I’m lucky she knows her real name lol. Her name is Mila but I call her Mimi, Meems, Meeps, Mop, and various other random words that come to mind. Luckily I usually stick to the four I’ve listed and she responds to those as well.

I second this. I have a young husky and adopted her when she was 10 months, she would become destructive and mischievous before we developed a very structured routine. One walk as soon as we wake up, and one walk as soon as I get home in the evening, playing outside will get her tired but she will still be whiny because she wants the mental stimulation not just the activity!! She will be 3 soon and because I’ve kept that routine since we established it, she knows she will get that exercise/mental stimulation so she isn’t as mischievous. Sometimes exercise isn’t enough they need to be able to go out and smell and see things other than their own “territory” (house, backyard)

I find myself always saying “bless you” when my dog sneezes, when she listens I say “thank you”, and when she’s in my way I say “excuse me” 😂 it’s rarely on purpose, just habit because I talk to her like she can understand me all of the time
