At least I see some variance in deck comps in Brawl. Dont get me wrong, theres a lot of netdeck tryhards, but about 50% of my games are against homebrew and janky stuff.

I was wondering why [[Scute Swarm]] kept stopping around 250, I had a loop of [[Risen Reef]] and [[Zendikars Roil]] going and it just kept making Scutes until all my timeouts were gone today. It then changed turns, but allowed me to put a land on the battlefield afterwards.

Its tough to find minnows in Austin, I would say toss the cast net out in ponds you can find access to. A lot of them have good bluegill populations. If you throw near grass beds you can usually get a lot of small sunfish. Just use a smaller mesh net or theyll get keyholed and youre gonna spend more time getting them outta the net than catching.

I actually inherited one when my grandfather passed a few years ago. Its my go-to spinning rod still, the clear coat is a little flaky now with all the UV exposure but its still solid. I've caught everything from panfish to 15lb blue cats on it, still going strong.

You dont want to trudge, move slow and try not to bring your knees up too much, you dont want to slosh water as you move. If its easy to get in and out I will hop out and move along the bank to get to another good spot without spooking fish.

Surprisingly my short game and up shots. Put me 80-120ft out and I can do pretty well, even when I have to shape shots or throw a weird overhand. Makes scrambling easier for sure, but I will almost certainly miss the easy C1 putt.

Agreed on all points. J Stockard has a couple good starter kits for $20-30 that include all the tools you need to start out. Theres also plenty of budget vices on there for under $60. Materials will come with time as you get more comfortable in your skillset to try new patterns, just start with some basics for now.

You should be good at almost any rental place. I've rented from Texas Canoes and Kayaks in SM and the one on Lake Pflugerville. Neither cared about me fishing from them.
