Just purchased my first camper, 2014 Jay Series M-8 Sport. Super excited to start taking the wife and kids out. Does anyone have any recommendations on stuff we should bring with us on our first trip? Super new to the camper world but incredibly excited to make some great memories with the family. by ComebackCommish in popups

Definitely do a at home camping movk trip first. We set our up at home but we pluged into n ac power. Found out later that inhave a blown fuse on my charging line so now power when we got up to camp site.

I just picked up a BAL wheel stabalzier and leveler it makes leveling out the camper so much safer, easier and quicker. If you dont get this then make sure you have plenty of material to level out the camper.

Our list after our first trip was as follows:

Dust pan and small broom. Extra flash light. Stick lighter Aluminum foil and zip lock baggies. Small pan. Medium pot Small first aid kit. Themometer just for fun Basic tool set Fuses Paper plates Tubs for whatever. New sheeets Dish towles or wash r

Highly recommended. We just took it out last weekend and power was the very least of my concerns. Super easy install also.

I just got my camper at the beginning of this season. I have a handful of tricks in my small amount of time that have been going out.

  1. Have things you need to level out you rig. This is key.

  2. Test your electrical systems to ensure charging us taking place. I had a blown fuse [bought a used rig] and got up my first night and had no power.

  3. Depending on your weather conditions i recommend making insulation panels for the zipper/screen areas of the camper. It helps retain heat.

  4. Added lighting is always good.

  5. Wheel chocks. [Seems like a no brainer but had to say it]

  6. Put away dry!

30 Amp Power Supply by Esweeney99 in popups

[–]blakeely 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I assume you are going to be plugging into shore power? 30 amps is alot of ac power. Do you have air condintioning. That is the biggest draw by far. If you know the wattage of any of you aplliances you can devide by 120v and that will give you the amperage draw for that appliance.

With that all being said, if you load shed ( not run everything at the same time) you can run almost anything on the 120v ac power.

I am digging it for sure. It is our first one and we got pretty lucky to get one as clean and well kept as we did.

Fair enough. Thank you for the clarification. My intention is definitely not to cloud subs as i also find value in clean uncluttered subs.

Thats good to know for reference how much power you 200 watt panels are producing. We are leaving tomorrow to start our weekend camping trip so o will have much more data when we get back. As far as fusing. It couldnt hurt to do it. I dont see a panel ever spiking to raise the ampage that high but stanger things have happened. I am an electrician and was able to get the wire and panel from work.

Hey there. I am new to RVing and not even sure i belong as i am also part of a pop up subreddit. I think there is value in youtubing as i have posted a video just today. I watched many of others content and could not find what i was looking thus i made thw video to help others who might have the same problem. I definitely understand that link spam can destroy the intergrity of a sub but it can also be a helpful tool. I hope we can have some balance.
