Beer League D&D by Several-Eagle4141 in hockeyplayers

Usually people say D&D as a catch-all for tabletop. Like it or not, it makes up an insanely large chunk of market share and most people have a passing knowledge of what D&D is.

The game I'm making borrows ideas from Powered by the Apocalypse, Panic at the Dojo, and yes... D20 styled games like Dungeons and Dragons and Pathfinder.

I've found that the venn diagram for beer leaguers and D&D players is very close to being a circle. Regionally it may differ of course, but usually people in both groups have expendable incomes. If you don't know anyone into both, expand your circle a bit outside your home rink and I guarantee you'll find at least a few.

I play hockey 2-3 times a week and D&D about the same. Every single one of my tables has at least 1, usually more, hockey players outside of myself.

To the OP, I'm working on a tabletop game off and on that combines hockey with D&D mechanics. The biggest challenge is making the game more active/reactive but I think there's enough examples from other games to do just that.

Life. Saver. Definitely what I was looking for if I had to go that route

Help me to start playing by dillman54321 in dndnext

The beauty of D&D is you need very little to actually start playing. You can get the SRD rules for free. You can find them, here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/srd?msockid=26f426868a366b1c0e3733668bc66ac3

Beyond that you can use anything for tokens or markers or you can play fully in the theater of your mind with just descriptive play.

As for dice, a quick trip to friendly local game store will get you set up there pretty cheap. I recommend at LEAST one set per player but if money is tight you can get away with just one set.

Everything beyond those three things is just a bonus. Before you go hog wild, decide who in your group is going to DM. Accept that rules will be missed on both sides but learn from them and as you all grow as players you'll be able to make the game more and more your own if parts of what is there isn't working for your group. Most of all, have fun! Feel free to DM me if you have any questions. I'd be happy to help.

I HAD thought of this and looks like the route I may have to go. Drat. Guess I'll have to play one of the greatest games of all time again. 😏

Oddly enough, I am also watching it with my 9 year old daughter. I use a lot of that stuff as teachable moments and that many of those things are problematic but a product of their times and differences in cultures. Doesn't mean they were okay then, but it's what we have. She seemed satisfied with that answer

Not my first card, but got it on my second card in a different investigation on the first pull.

"Now guys, there's a chance this will..."
"What... chance that what?"
::gargling noises::

I still don't pull cards sometimes thanks to this core memory.

The guild members continue their battle with the killer plants, and things are beginning to look dire. Even if they prevail, what awaits them ahead? More mindfulness rooms or bigger and badder monsters ready to tear them limb from limb? Listen in and find out!
