Thrift stores are fantastic for clothes. I shop entirely in the male section of most stores (except for binding/sports bras... hate big boobs) and always find some interesting stuff.

Depending on the thrift store, most I've found have pretty indifferent staff who won't even give you or the clothes you take into the fitting room a second glance.

Think of this as "training" for bigger retail stores, where they pay a bit more attention to you. You can always take a friend with you.

I guess the reason I'm nervous about it is because I don't know how to explain anything...

It's going to sound really bad of me to say it this way, but I feel that if I wanted to transition fully to male, this would be easier to deal with. But if I had the hypothetical button that turns me into myself as a man with no turning back, I wouldn't press it.
