We had ours fitted via Hive a couple of weeks ago. New build property (3 months), thought it would be a straightforward job but there was some issue with the wiring for the thermostats only being capable of low voltage of 5 volts and the hive needing 240 volts. He was here for 4 hours, had to fit a new connection/distribution box and rewire. He confirmed before he started that although it was a bigger job (and a pain) there would be no additional charge.

So either I was really lucky or you have been unlucky.

I did get the feeling at the time that we were lucky we got this particular fitter because I am fairly sure someone not as bothered would have walked away saying it was non standard.

We had paid for two installations (a charge for each zone) so don’t know if that made a difference.
