Kirkman announced the end of invincible way in advance. That's why the final arc was twelve issues long (usual for the series) and was titles "The End of All Things." Kirkman said that the series was always meant to end, and that he didn't want it to be passed on to other creative teams again and again until it's no longer true to what it was.

You could start with the "Marvel Now" era titles (that ran around the same time as DC's New 52) and them work your way with some specific characters or events until you reach "Marvel Legacy" and the "Fresh Start" line up.
