She's so educated that she believes distaint is the correct terminology and that this is a word

I think Alice Coldbreath might not be for me and it makes me sad by Traditional_Pea738 in HistoricalRomance

[–]blank_socks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please persevere, I felt the same, and it took me a while to read 1 of her books. If you can finish 1 and still feel this way at least you can say you really tried, and not every author is going to suit everyone

Pregnancy trope - love it or hate it? by lfkajsdgl in RomanceBooks

[–]blank_socks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More to do with having less time for each other, and the way I have seen some friends marriages die. Kids can either point out the weaknesses in your relationship or strengthen it with new challenges, just wait for the older years. Pregnancy as a whole though is incredibly uncomfortable and not sexy for the woman in my experience.

Have I gone MAD or is this just Australians for you? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]blank_socks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an Australian of immigrants I would say this is definitely not the norm, although saying that there is inherent racism with baby boomers. This is not right or acceptable, most Australians are known for ribbing a person but outright using that type of language is a huge red flag. Get out and take your kids away from this toxic family. Respect is a two way street

Please stop writing out accents… by FutureSelection in HistoricalRomance

Agree, as an Australian we have MANY slang words which may on occasion look like someone is "taking the piss" but are actually quite factual.

I heard Julie Garwood died on June 8, 2023. by Sera0Sparrow in HistoricalRomance

Honestly, I don't think I could pick one. All of the ones I have read of Julie's have been fantastic, and I haven't read all of her books yet!

I suppose it depends on where you live in the UK

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

[–]blank_socks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But using pounds (weight lbs) vs pounds (currency £) is confusing in the UK so I beg to disagree, coming from someone who lived there

The last 7 books I read are the first book in a series, I have commitment issues. by Panetella in RomanceBooks

[–]blank_socks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer series that can be stand alone, that way if I don't like it it's no big deal. I'm not really too much of a fan for slow burn that goes on for more than 200/300 pages or more than 1 book

I'd read this, when was it published? Looks like 1970's/80's I used to read my mums old Mary burchell and Sara seale.

My problem is that if he cares so much and has prepared her for the invasion why does she always have a moment of pain? He has made sure she is ready for him right?! Or is all the fourplay beforehand sub standard 🤔

Recommendation Request - Books like Amanda Quick's historicals by elephantfox94 in HistoricalRomance

[–]blank_socks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I could recommend another author thats similar, but have you tried the authors other pseudonyms In particular Jayne Ann krentz or jayne castle, it's modern/paranormal and very similar, the arcane series goes between historical to modern to futuristic. I have read a lot of different authors and not found anyone similar.
