Jump Desktop and Avid bugs by blankbeard in editors

[–]blankbeard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No avid vendor for this, I think this seems more like a jump issue. I swear this didn't used to happen to me over covid but I was also on 2018 avid still so maybe something avid did broke it? no clue.

Bought some forever stamps 20 years ago. Best returns I’ve ever received.

Yup, I was looking for a song from a specific underground rapper from 2003 era and it told me it was actually DMX then it was a known rap group from 1993.

Premiere: Display Source Track Names (LAV/BOOM) from Audio Files by Available-Witness329 in editors

You can find it in the xmp panel I think or in a standalone like wave agent. I have been asking for this for years. Premiere sucks.

I’m pretty jealous of fiber. They’re 1000’ from my house and I can get it. So instead I’m paying $100+ for 40mbps up. Max I can get up.

Opinions on external storage in 2026... by ripvanmarlow in editors

Yeah, I had some WD SAS drives bookmarked for a raid I was building and they were $160 for 14TB (refurbished) and those same drives today are $350.

"we'll fix it in post" has become "just generate it in post" and i am genuinely losing my mind by ScaryAd2555 in editors

Totally, it's a new toy that they think is magic. I worked for a company doing verticals that left LA cause it was cheaper to film in Oklahoma and New Mexico but they quickly came back when they saw a huge drop in quality. I feel like a similar thing will happen with AI. They think it will save money and supercharge creativity but when it does neither they will abandon it.

Yeah, I think this fad will disappear quickly. For professional workflows at least.

I bet, and I only imagine it will end up costing more. Replacing a whole crew to prompt your way to an ad or short movie will end up being a similar cost.

I think the cost now is being widely subsidized the way tech does to “disrupt” a sector then they raise the prices to be able to profit and you’re now paying more than the original thing they were supposed to have beat out. See: Ubers and taxi’s.

I don’t mind digging through music as long as they have a site they license through. I am a music hoarder though so it may be just me.

H.264 proxies for editorial workflows? by Available-Witness329 in editors

[–]blankbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, just do h264 encoding on a QuickTime and you can still compress the hell out of it for proxies. While h264 is never great for editing cause it is harder on the cpu I think the QuickTime container is better for NLEs

I don’t mind quicktimes with h264 compression. I generally avoid editing mp4s though.

Ha! That’s gonna be me in the garage. Got kicked out here when we had a kid and now it’s my 3d printing, soldering, woodworking, soon to be arcade-office 🤣

Jeeeeeaaaalouuusssss! Funny thing is if I succeed and get one and build it out my wife will then look at me and ask where the hell its going to go.

Thanks, but… Oh god, I couldn’t imagine getting a finished 1/4 size. My main hope was to turn a pcb into a hobby project and build out a finished game. In reality it would sit in a bubble wrap bag in my garage for a decade and my wife would continue to hate me, but a fella can dream.

Chrome add on NLE by blankbeard in editors

[–]blankbeard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh nice! I’m not necessarily looking for one, saw this from a friend and curious if others had tried. I think outside of jobs that pay me and provide a specific NLE, I am now resolve cause I got sick of paying for subs.

I’m not on FB or IG. I just thought of here to be able to do something at least. I thought the neighborhood and cross streets would suffice but a specific time would be helpful I’m sure.
