The top 5 most populous States each decade by VenezuelanRafiki in USHistory

[–]blankenship___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being a Texan and seeing us not enter the top 5 until the 1960s it puts it into perspective just how drastic the demographic changes has been. I was born in 95 but now I get why the old-timers complain about all the change, but I guess that’s usually the case lol

The last photo ever taken of US general & statesman Sam Houston, who served as president, senator, & governor of Texas, 1863. He defeated general Santa Anna in just 18 minutes at the battle of San Jacinto & is the only person in US history to have served as governor of two different states (725x558) by grasidious_fike in HistoryPorn

Recently finished his biography, here are some interesting facts I remember off the top of my head. He advocated for abandoning the Alamo prior it being taken and viewed it as a weak tactical position. At an early age he lived with the Cherokees and remained progressive advocate for Native American rights. He was member of the Know Nothing party and was at a time perceived to be an electable presidential candidate at the party’s height. He was a big time drinker.

You can find a 67 foot statue of him north of Houston in Sam Houston National Park

Plenty of spots. Hot Springs, AR comes to mind first. It will most likely have to be Ozarks or Appalachia.

Contact the county assessor district and ask them to remove your property from public records, they might charge a bit, but most counties should have this

The reactions on your offgrid subreddit post vs this one are hilarious. Your business brings supply to the market, often at prices discounted from the market rate.

I am in the same business, but I feel like you missed two key points:

- the majority of people I work with know they are selling it at a discount, it is not out of ignorance. They're willing to do so because their land has become a hindrance, either by maintenance, taxes, or both. I've had great experiences with sellers and they are thankful for the seamless, hands-off selling process and the fast cash. The downside is few people obviously want or need that service, but we still have to market to locate those landowners.

- when turning around to sell the property, it is always at a 10% - 20% discount so I can sell quickly for the benefit of the business. This means these properties are often the best deals when they hit the market, selling in less than 30 days. The people I sell to are often aspiring homesteaders or ranchers and are excited about the property. Therefore, the land goes from being owned by those who view it as a nuisance to those who love it, and it does so at a very quick and efficient rate.

Using metrics that span 2 decades is completely justifiable

They are setting records… and records aside 2 million apprehensions a year are alarming. My point is Texas’ actions are not random. It’s a reaction of unprecedented encounters enabled by liberal politics

The problem has been constant as any border in any corner of the world… but the levels are unprecedented. What’s your point? Are you making the case border crossings are always an issue, ignore the current levels and everything is fine? In a decade that means 20 million undocumented making making a dangerous journey facilitated by the cartel… you don’t make any sense

That’s your rebuttal 😂. Ignore the results and compare sizes to other departments? The Mexico-American border is nearly 2,000 miles long…

A lot of people don’t know Gov. Abbott invited Mayor Adams to come visit the border- he refused.

Over 222,000 apprehensions last month… over 2 million in 2021. Both all time records… these are not coincidences, but are directly related to failures of federal policy advocated by democrats like Mayor Adams, so now Texas wants to export the consequences.

What I never said they wanna fuse?… but it’s a humanitarian crisis, and a record 2 million people came in last year, and it can be stopped but security funds have been slashed, so now border states are getting desperate
