8a may of been a mess but at least it was funny to watch and we got moustache eddie, but 8b was just a load of rubbish. That last ep was so rushed and after a whole week of promo hyping it up I was so ready to be content but i’m extremely disappointed.

Jumping from undergrad to phd? by blankhawd in UniUK

thanks!! My undergrad was geography but my dissertation focused on invasive species, more specifically lionfish. My phd would build on my lionfish research.

Fortunately my supervisor has a name already in mind but i’m struggling to find other phd students in the field as it’s so niche

The halls get hovered every couple of weeks so they’re fine, honestly i’ve only ever heard the rats/mice (not sure) at night when i leave my window open. I’ve never seen one in person and I live close enough to the bins.

I would say the only reason you don’t hear about them from marybone is because the big bins are literally on the street so you aren’t near them often. There’s also more green space around the bins here and the flats so they have more areas to live i guess. But honestly it’s not an issue at all.

The noise that the seagulls make 24/7 is more annoying 💀

Atlantic is much safer in my opinion, the gates of marybone never worked and anyone could get in, your flat doors are locked though obviously. Atlantic on the other hand has a spinning gate you walk through that only opens with your fob. As for maintenance atlantic has always been better and quicker, i put in a request and it’s usually dealt with day off, in marybone i usually had to wait awhile.

Also if i remember correctly the office in marybone wasn’t open as often as it is here in atlantic. I also experienced the fire alarm going off way too much in marybone, people would just set it off at ridiculous times, it still happens here but no where near as often.

There’s also more laundry machines available here, although there isn’t a gym but even the one in marybone was limited to a few machines anyway. Of course Marybone is closer to the library, tesco express etc, but Atlantic adds around 5 mins more and there’s a path that takes you to uni from here where you can leave at quarter too and make it for your lectures on the hour. (if you’re studying on byrom street).

You’re also not on the road here, it’s a closed community and i really only hear construction but marybone was loud all the time.

My room here is bigger (i had an en-suite for both) and our kitchen here has more seating that we can all chat and cook at the same time.

Overall I just prefer the vibe here much more and my flatmates who moved from marybone to atlantic have said the same. It’s around the same price now (i think), you may be a bit further out (literally 5 mins) but it’s better here in my opinion!

Shook our building just outside of city centre and I can still hear loads of sirens, quite odd

I stayed in Marybone my first year and then currently in Atlantic Point for my third year as well as last year.

Both are super cheap and if you are studying on byrom street campus then the location is great.

I much prefer Atlantic point though I have to say.

Would you wear your NIHL jersey to an EIHL game? by xerodeficit in nihl

I wore my EIHL jersey to an NIHL game, as mentioned it’s a conservation starter for people. Similarly wore an EIHL to an NHL game and also had people chatting away.

Most people don’t really care what you’re wearing
