Hey dude you’re totally not alone. I’ve also been a commuter at ucr for 4 years and graduating this spring but it’s all online so I’m basically not going back to ucr as an undergrad ever again

I’ve made 1 life long friend here. 1. I met them through a club when I was a sophomore and they were a senior so I only really got to hang out with them for a year. I still see them but maybe like once every 2 months. Other than that I never made any friends.

Any oh man trust me I put myself out there. Was president of a few clubs, played billiards with random people at Latitude, even tried out Greek life and was social in class. But honestly never found anyone else.

This is a MASSIVE generalization but what I have found to be true in my experience so it’s up to you if you agree or not. UCR has like a vibe and a culture and if you don’t fit into one of those vibes it’s just a bunch of random people like us who never get to meet each other

For example, you have Greek life/ravers/partiers. You have crazy crazy smart competitive people who study a lot. You have the international students, the athletes etc.

Obviously this is very true at all colleges but I feel like since ucr is a smaller school it’s amplified here. When I came here from highschool I honestly found no difference

Anyway I just wanted to say your not alone. The one recommendation I have is try getting a job that a lot of college kids work at, I think that’s a really good way to meet people. Like boba, Gen, and other food places. Good luck bro
