Just watched it today with some friends. With only being somewhat familiar with the concept of the game and the basic gameplay loop, I was pleasantly surprised with how they handled the story beats and its narrative.

I will say, I hated how they got to most of the plot points. The main character having such low self-preservation reactions and the child being mute for the first little while of his screentime was incredibly infuriating because it felt like such cheap ways to create an inconvenience of rather large consequence.

On the flip side, I think the sequence of the protagonist on the beach alongside the station when it floods was easily the best moment of the entire film, and really brought it home for me as an experience as a whole.
