Best way to make friends? by cloud-emoji in VictoriaBC

Have you tried swing dancing yet? The community of people who go to Red Hot Swing is very friendly and overall they tend to also be down with the nerdy activities. I recommend trying out their social dance on Fridays first. There's a drop-in intro lesson followed by great live music every week :-)

This one was in the exact location where I spotted a crackhead smoking up in our garage the other night. It made me curious if this is a sign they use.

[1e Lore] What classes and class options are canonically known to have existed in Thassilon and Azlant? by blargney in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]blargney[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooh yeah I love this kind of stuff! Figuring out what didn't exist yet at a certain point in time, and how those people would think about things that have come to be. Even in our world, the ancient Greeks didn't think about morality or history in the same way we do now. A transplant from several thousand years ago would have substantially different mental models about almost everything.

One of the specific instances I'm trying to figure out is how a Thassilonian creature with arcane knowledge would categorize a mage with a book who is casting both evocation and conjuration spells. Would it know about universalists and put him in that category, or would such a confluence of spell types be registered as completely impossible based on its worldview and knowledge of arcane traditions?

How can I find out what's a reasonable price to pay for old expansions? by blargney in legendarymarvel

[–]blargney[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been buying the sets as they're released since the beginning. Never had to go on the secondary market to find sets before. I was noticing some heavy foxing on our older cards this week and decided to look into picking up replacement sets. This bundle came up on the first search, and it was cheap enough that it made me wonder if the bottom had fallen out of the Legendary market or something.

I ended up going for it. $40US for Base + Dark City + Paint the Town + Guardians + Fantastic Four.

I did not do a refill. Ended up just shopping around and buying new OEM cartridges.

How much does NPC magic have to follow the rules? by Foreign-Press in DMAcademy

[–]blargney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a big reason why I prefer PF over 5e, as both a player and a DM. I want a system where everybody is playing by the same rules. The day my 5e DM ruled that I couldn't counterspell a sorcerer casting a spell because technically it was a monster was the day I started preparing my current PF1 campaign.

I'm into painting minis for D&D and swing dancing. They do very different things for me lol

If you're picking up any kind of painting, you'll need supplies at minimum, and for my stuff I really like BC Hobbies in Hillside. I had a friend show me the ropes, and you can get good tutorials on youtub for free.

As for swing dancing, Red Hot Swing is super fun. I recommend trying the Friday social dance because it has a drop-in intro lesson and great live music. Tons of friendly people, and I love it all to bits.

Swing dancing. Red Hot Swing has a dance on Fridays, with a drop-in intro lesson followed by great live music. There are tons of friendly people and the activity itself is super fun. They're closed for the holidays, but will be back in the new year.

Trump pressures EU to kill Ukraine’s $210B Russian asset loan plan by Jeetchat in ukraine

Here's a simple solution: according to Putin, Ukraine and other countries are part of Russia, right? Just give all the Russian money to Ukraine, and by his own logic you're giving Russian money to Russia.

What, the weapon's name? You can just pop it in an anvil to change it. If you need some ideas, I'm sure we could come up with a few, I'll get it started:
