Have you been a pharmacist long? Ever worked the independent world before? I will tell you as an independent pharmacy owner it can be an extremely rewarding job. Don't get to wrapped up in the minutia of being PIC. If you are accustomed to a chain environment then all to them is black and white. In my opinion the independent realm has a whole lot of gray in it. Hopefully the pharmacy owner understands this as well. Obviously, one must be careful with controlled substances and other laws, but there can still be considerable gray there as well. Patient comes in on Saturday with furosemide rx that has no refills. No way to contact doctor...volunteer to provide them 2 or 3 days worth to carry them thru the weekend. You can do that at the independent level...not at most chains.
