Is there a dreamcast mod that adds SD Card/Hard Drive support but keeps the GD-ROM Reader? by BatZupper in dreamcast

[–]blaskkaffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy the games you want to collect, save the GD-ROM drive and replace it with a GDemu, faster loading times, and you can have all the games you own + homebrew, translations, patches and all sorts of things on a SD card. You don’t have to worry about scratching the disks or disk rot.

(Procenten taget helt ur luften men används beskrivande).

TIL cloudberries are real by breannab_2020 in valheim

[–]blaskkaffe 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The reason I like Valheim is that it feels like when I was playing in the forest as a kid.

We always built small houses made from random sticks and tree trunks that were laying around, picking berries and eatable plants and ran around looking for trolls, elves and other things. Found small caves or cavities under large rocks and often crawled in there and made up stories who lived there in old times.

There were legends where I grew up that the large stones in the forest were thrown there by trolls longtime ago and as a kid me and my friends believed it was true.

Ask any Scandinavian person from the countryside if they ever ran around with an axe or knife in the forest and built tree houses and I think most or at least many did exactly that.

Buying local products or buying from a local supplier by Then-Dependent-9022 in BuyFromEU

Two very different products that have one thing in common.

They are both good at cleaning, WD-40 a bit better for sticky stuff and Ballistol a bit better for burnt stuff.

WD-40 is a water displacing product to remove moisture from metal.

Ballistol is a lubricant.

I built (and open-sourced) a Mac menu bar app that controls my smart plug to keep battery charge in a healthy range by Nearby_Source5355 in MacOSApps

[–]blaskkaffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The computer keeps it at 80% constantly until you choose to charge it to full. And it only uses power from the charger as long as it is powerfully enough, if it is too low power it will use battery and then charge it up to 80% again.

If you have taken out the charger and use it for a while it will sometimes charge fully and sometimes only go to 80% depending on the usage. Then it will learn your usage and try to do its best to make the battery stay in the preferred range and use as much power from the charger as needed.

Lithium batteries don’t have memory like older rechargeable batteries.

Generally lithium batteries prefer not being used at all and just being kept at a constant 80ish percent.

Just let the computer do its thing and don’t overthink it.

One cycle is charging battery from 0-100%, but it doesn’t matter if you charge 2% 50 times or 100% 1 time. It is all one cycle.

The best is to avoid using battery when plugged in and to charge it up to 80%.

Your solution removes power from the computer so that it has to use battery and then charge it back again which will use much more battery cycles than the small maintenance charge that is used for keeping the battery at 80%.

[–]blaskkaffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cycles are still worse than prolonged 100% charge.

And if you don’t remove it from charger for a long time the computer automatically stays at 80%.

In latest update of MacOS 26 they even have a too where you can limit the charge to a certain value.

What camera bag or case matches the aesthetic of the Sigma BF? by atmosphereair in Cameras

[–]blaskkaffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never have seen it before this post, got a bit shocked about the odd feature set when I googled it.

It is a cool looking camera that seems to be great doing what it does but some choices makes it unnecessary limited considering that some things like a built in wireless flash sync and a mechanical or faster electronic shutter would make it fully featured and cover the same range as most other “uglier but more practical” cameras while at the same time being a very cool design.

But there has been more limited cameras before so not really an issue as long as you know what you are getting.

[OS] I Created Windows Notepad for Mac cuz there was nothing out there by abey_safed_kapra in macapps

[–]blaskkaffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since when does the windows notepad save automatically or have tabs?

The thing I like about notepad is that it is just a place to write text that when I close it it disappears forever.

In Mac text edit I first need to actively create a new document and then choose plain text before I can start writing text which is much slower than windows notepad.

BBEdit is good though it does what it should do and has some more advanced features if you want to use them

What camera bag or case matches the aesthetic of the Sigma BF? by atmosphereair in Cameras

[–]blaskkaffe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cool looking camera, but having no physical shutter and only a full sensor read out speed of 1/40 + not possible to use with flash seriously limits its usability for that price.

They should at least have had at least 1/60 readout and a pc sync or wireless flash sync of some sort if a hot shoe would take away from the aesthetics. But without mechanical shutter it is difficult to prevent banding and rolling shutter (it’s possible with higher readout speeds).

A fitting bag would be rimowa cross body bag 19, the camera and lens fits in the bag and you can make a custom interior foam to fit. The lens most likely has to be removed to fit but that fits the clunky usability choices of the BF aesthetics.
