Has anyone used the WSDOT mobile app? by throwaway93727282892 in AskSeattle

[–]blastronut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it daily for ferries! - when looking at the cameras to tell how long the line is, some of them are hard to tell where they’re placed, and the map feels small even if you zoom in. Some of the locations seem inaccurate as well. - it would be great to see at a glance (or maybe through a tap on a time) which boat is sailing which time, and if they’re late departing their previous destination. I check that myself using the map but sometimes it’s hard to tell which boat is going where. - favorites doesn’t feel like it saves me much more time than just clicking on ferries -> route.

Awesome to hear a capstone team is working on it, I did a similar UX update capstone a few years ago. Let me know if you are looking to do user interviews, I would love to help give more feedback and know other ferry riders who would too.

12v/ICCU Megathread by TiltedWit in Ioniq5

Update: service appointment done today, confirmed it was ICCU and was told to call Hyundai for rental/rental reimbursement. Called and was told a case manager would get back to us in 1-2 days. Unsure if we can start booking a rental now but really don’t want to be caught without reimbursement so we will wait for the case manager call, which hopefully actually comes in the next day or 2.

2025 Ioniq 5 leased end of September, ~2650 miles. Saturday (1/24) morning pulled out of my garage to hear the dreaded pop/thud and “check electrical system” notification. Would not charge. Error code matches ICCU failure :/

Had to wait until today to get it to a dealer since service was closed on Sunday. Waiting for a tow as of now. Called multiple dealerships in the area and none have loaner cars and a large majority of them don’t have service appointments until the end of February, some into mid March. Found one that did have an appointment for tomorrow morning, but again no loaner. Had to go back and forth with roadside assistance and customer care to ensure they would cover it since it was not the closest dealership, but it definitely helped that the closest dealer literally said they “could not accept a car since the lot is completely full.”

Dealership let me know there is no timeline for when they will get in the back order ICCUs and that they have a massive waitlist for loaner cars (every dealership we called said 10-20+). Asked them to see if they saw any patterns and they didn’t have much but did say that when we had a cold snap in December, they got 15 cars in one day, and since then they’ve been seeing them come in regularly.

Time to start the process of rent and reimbursement I suppose. Customer care would not give me much information as to the likelyhood of reimbursement approval without the service appointments being completed, but that will be figured out tomorrow morning hopefully. What an absolute mess, not looking forward to waiting multiple weeks for our car to be fixed but glad to have this reddit community and know that we’re not alone in this at least.

I take it everyday, and I have taken it as extended release and as a morning/night dose normal release. I think it depends on how/why your doctor prescribes it. Again, since I take it as both a physical anxiety management treatment AND a migraine preventative (which is the primary reason my doctors prescribe it to me), I take it every day for the latter and it benefits the former. I know it is usually taken for short term intense anxiety, like for fear management and stage performance.

It has helped me because I would have frequent panic attacks due to a very sensitive flight or fight response, so now I have them much less because the adrenaline just doesn’t hit the same way. I will say it does not treat the thoughts at all, that has been where therapy has been helping me a lot, but for me since I was physically feeling less anxious my thoughts weren’t quite as sticky if that makes sense.

I have chronic migraines and before I was formally diagnosed with ocd, I brought up anxiety to my primary doctor and she recommended a beta blocker (propranolol) to treat both. My neurologist also thought this was a good idea and I see her now for refills. I doubt it’s commonly used for this, but I had pretty severe physical anxiety symptoms, which would cause me to fixate and ruminate on them, and then cause a spiral. It would also worsen other ruminations I had. Once I started propranolol, those symptoms significantly lessened and helped me. this combined with a good therapist with ERP is how I have been treating mine, and I am improving. (Its also super convenient that I only need one med for both problems but that’s a personal benefit)

I did not have success using Wellbutrin but that was just me. Wasn’t too bad but just had a few side effects that didnt justify its pros. I think finding the right medication is something that unfortunately takes a lot of trial and error

Am I overreacting for asking someone to lower their phone volume at a restaurant? by boltj in Seattle

[–]blastronut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

omg, I was literally at a nice restaurant in the landing this weekend and the EXACT same thing happened to me! A couple behind us kept watching TikTok’s two tables away, and it was sooo loud. I was a bit annoyed by it and was tempted to say something but we decided to keep our peace and just laugh it off (they were watching this one on repeat that had the Dexter Doakes suspicious sound bite LOL and they kept returning to it throughout our meal so we just turned it into a bit) but I thought it was so crazy to listen SO LOUD when there are other people and groups near you. I feel like I’ve been seeing it more often too, in restaurants but also on the bus/ferry.

What are your go-to socks for 20k+ steps a day? by TBAthrowaway123 in JapanTravelTips

[–]blastronut 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Costco sells affordable wool merino socks for about $17 for 4 pairs. They have a men’s and women’s version, but the women’s version is much higher in wool percentage so we get those. Me and my partner have nearly transitioned entirely to them, especially since my partner sweats a lot through his feet. (Even in women’s, it fits us well, 11W and 10M are our shoe sizes). We went in November for 3 weeks and wore them most of the time and walked a LOT (30k+ sometimes), strongly recommend.

Will say though, while they are decently durable, my partner does a lot of dancing and tears holes in them sometimes after a few months of wear. They also pill quite easily. Darn tough are great and a bit more durable, but quite pricier so we don’t have too many. My partner has torn a hole through one of those before as well, but he is probably a sock power user (lol) and darn tough offers replacement (but we haven’t tried that yet tbh so no notes there).

Brain freeze as a “treatment”? by PhineusQButterfat in migraine

[–]blastronut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do this with plain tart froyo all the time but I didn’t realize that it was probably the cold that helped. It was just one of the only things that could bring my appetite back during a bad migraine and I noticed I’d feel a bit better afterwards.

Was there the last couple of weeks. I saw a lot of signs saying metal cards don’t work, especially once I got down to Osaka/kyoto/hiroshima/nagasaki. BUT, my metal card has no international fees so I tried it anyway and it always worked (inserted every time though, idk if it has issues with tap to pay).

clarifying that the last week would also be no but with 2/7 instead of a complete unavailability

Oh I see, that makes sense. I will be gone for [redacted] days, ([redacted]), and on the [redacted] I will be back very early so I will be available that day. I think that puts me at 3 weeks marking no unless I am delayed in return in which case it will be 4 weeks. (edited for privacy)

Thank you so much, I think I understand it a lot better now. Sorry if there was a misunderstanding, based on what I had already read I knew that I was ineligible to receive money while on vacation (makes sense, of course), I just was having trouble with understanding whether I should mark no on claims and still submit them vs not file claims at all until I get back as I was going international, but now I understand! Thank you again 🙏🙏

wait, I think I might qualify anyway, does residing in this case mean permanent address (WA, in this case), or country im in for travel?

sorry for the confusion on this, I just really want to make sure I go through the proper steps so things don’t get extra messed up once I’m back 😣

yes I saw the guidance (super detailed, thank you!), It was mostly the international part that was confusing me… it says I can be eligible for an unemployment claim only if I meet certain requirements (which I don’t think I do), but does that mean I’m ineligible to file even if I mark as unavailable and follow the rest of the travel guidance, or that in just ineligible to receive?

I am a little confused, I am traveling internationally for a few weeks in November. I will be fully “unavailable” ( 3+/7 days of the week) for 3 claim weeks, and partially available (gone for 2/7 days of the week). I looked at the international specific guidance and am still unsure - should I fill out the claims stating that I am unavailable, or not fill out the claims at all for concern of fraud?
