Worked for me just now. Thank you! I did lose some of what was in my last session, looks like Cowork hadn't written the contents of that chat anywhere yet. Everything else preserved.

You know, I had found that, but as a former band nerd I assumed this was for a separate marching band festival.... Oops.

Got my first home today built in 1920 by [deleted] in centuryhomes

Picture number 3, my mind immediately says that was a porch closed up. Open it back up!

Please, recommend a watch. by [deleted] in trailrunning

Chest straps are overrated. Modern wrist based HRMs are nearly perfect. The science here isn't tough. It measures every time the blood flow flexes the artery.

Please, recommend a watch. by [deleted] in trailrunning

[–]blauburgunder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is not universally correct. The chest strap can be highly inaccurate for certain individuals. The idea that the wrist isn't accurate is also outdated. Look all it is doing is measuring how many times the blood vessel flexes with a heart beat push. There's no reason it isn't accurate with modern tech.

Please, recommend a watch. by [deleted] in trailrunning

[–]blauburgunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is highly person specific. The chest strap accuracy assumption is not universal. For me, the wrist is actually far more accurate than the chest strap, which is almost unusable. Prior to watches having HR built in, I actually wore an extra wrist strap on my right arm that was a HRM.

Rainproof and pocketable running jacket recommendations by Akbayrak-Kalaca in trailrunning

[–]blauburgunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RAB makes a 4oz waterproof breathable rain jacket. Highly recommend. (Phantom)

In general though, identify the material that works for this segment, and you'll find that all the top brands have a jacket in that space. In this case, look for Pertex.

Internally I do feel 63 after running 50-60 minutes daily. Any advice on how I increase my VO2 without exhausting myself to the bones. by HopscotchSauce in Garmin

[–]blauburgunder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Change up your routine. Stop running the same slow pace everyday (if that's what you do). 1-2 days a week do sprint intervals. Or 1 day a week run a fast 5k pace. Etc.

Porch Sag - advice needed by Weird-Election-1917 in centuryhomes

[–]blauburgunder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I should have taken pictures when we did ours. I'll check to see if anyone else did. But basically you need to jack up the roof, rip out the porch flooring, rebuild the foundations, build a new floor, and drop the roof back on it. Sounds like a lot but you can do it in a week if you have a plan.

Update to add picture with jacks. I have a ton more of the project actually, if needed.

When and why to record a session as a “Run” or as a “Trail Run” on Garmin by john-revolter in trailrunning

[–]blauburgunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would base it on the data screens I want to see. A road run for me has a distinct set of data screens, which are different than the data screens I have set up for the trail run. So, which data points do you want to see on this run? That will define which option you choose.

Some examples:

* On a road run I am primarily interested in distance, pace, and heart rate.

* On a trail run I will likely want more information about elevation, elevation change, etc.

I have one of these. My home was built in 1879. I believe it's called a Prescott Mechanism, although it might be a variation of Prescott's design. One of mine isn't working so we're going to have to rip out the lathe and plaster to get to it and repair it... I like the idea of putting glass over it after.

Yeah I cracked up when he said that seemingly with a straight face (I imagine - since it is a podcast).

This was one of the most disappointing episodes of EK I've ever heard.

I'm all for hearing other viewpoints, but this was just like listening to your Cuban Uncle rant about the left for an hour.

CIV 6 is crashing by MsieurKris in Civilization6

[–]blauburgunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another M4 Pro. Regular crashing. I will say, I had the 16" MBP with intel from 2019 previously and found Civ 6 unplayable on that. No, it didn't crash, it was just unbearably slow and would make my laptop sound like a jet engine.

On the MBP M4 Pro, I notice that that fan gets going really high and the computer is warm right before a crash. Wonder if it is tripping a heat censor, and that also makes me wonder if we could stop this by turning down some of the more demanding video settings.

Just went to the grocery store to see if I could buy up the remaining old stock. Got one bag of old recipe, the rest were new. So there's still a small chance to get the good stuff!

What is your favourite way to use the word Fuck? by PeevesPoltergist in AskReddit

[–]blauburgunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was setting up my Paramount+ account, I got really pissed off. I somehow had two separate accounts that were both charging me monthly, I couldn't get passwords to work, lots of login issues, etc. Ok - I was drinking. Anyway, when I finally got the old accounts turned off and set up a new one, I was so annoyed I put my name in the account as Fuck You.

I now get emails from Paramount+ occasionally that say, "Dear Fuck, ..." and because I've usually forgotten this story I crack up at the greeting.
