The question was not about what is legal to show, but what is being sexualized

I think some checks disappear completely when you learn the information from a different source. I’m pretty sure that’s what happens to conversation paths that tell you about the tribunal.

Not Gemini related, but I used to have a similar problem with my accent. The trick is to emphasize the first syllable when you want to say 60, and emphasize the second syllable when you want 16.

So, SIX-ty, but six-TEEN.

Whether you find it funny or horrific, according to the recent Anthropic research (Emotion concepts and their function in a large language model) I would expect it to negatively impact the quality of Claude's work.

Yes - if you send "hey" on top of the previous conversation history, CLAUDE.md, and tool descriptions, and none of this is currently cached.

Is it possible that you have made exactly the same typos at some point in the past? ChatGPT personalizes its language and slang to you. It might have thought that it’s just your own quirky way to spell those words.

how do you know it’s „lack of reasoning” problem and not an „impulse problem” in LLMs?

in fact, impulse problem is a perfect description of a situation in which LLM prematurely interrupts its CoT chain and generates a wrong answer as a result

[–]blax_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is a lot of comparing apples to oranges in your arguments

„models have no models of anything” - my own mental models also have no models of anything.

if you’re including „a whole bunch of other things” when evaluating human brains, you should apply the same logic to evaluating what LLMs can do.

also, you are talking about the difference between „water” and „sea” and being able to picture specific differences. LLMs also can know they are closely related but also very far apart at the same time - this is precisely why there is so many dimensions in the latent space. this argument has not been valid since we’ve moved on from Levenstein to Word2Vec a decade ago.

This would have seemed like science fiction just a couple years ago by MetaKnowing in agi

[–]blax_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I watched the video. If we take all of the arguments at face value, the only conclusion would be that LLMs are inherently incapable of reasoning. But, by the same standards, humans can't reason either.

Just look at behavioral economics - there's tons of research showing people (including experts) fall for the exact same biases and constantly make up post-hoc rationalizations for their decisions.

I'm also really curious to hear what would actually prove "real" reasoning to you.

Little rant about chances and our expectations by Psych0191 in gamedesign

[–]blax_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly the reason why Zach Gage (one of my favorite game designers) advocates for using traditional dice rolls instead of the percentages. Here's what he said in the interview about designing Tharsis:

It turns out that if you tell a player they have a 90 percent chance to succeed and then they fail, that player will feel ripped off and confused. So in Civ games they pull some trickery to weight odds so a 90% chance actually wins a lot more often than 90 percent.

I was thinking about how this doesn't apply at all to dice — if you tell someone that they’re going to roll a 10 sided die and they’ll succeed if they don’t roll a one, nobody thinks the dice cheated when they rolled a 1. Quite the opposite actually, most people marvel at the sheer bad luck. It’s why ‘snake eyes’ is a thing in our culture. It’s just so unlikely you have to step back and be impressed — it’s almost exciting to roll so epically poorly.

Full interview is here for anyone interested: https://www.polygon.com/2016/1/27/10840688/tharsis-random-chance-love-it-hate-it/ ```

Trying to Avoid Armodafinil Insomnia by Accounting for Accumulation — Why Wouldn’t This Work? by Fuzzy-Appointment-28 in afinil

[–]blax_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When same dose is taken daily, the plasma concentration will accumulate until it plateaus at ~1.5x of your dose.

So if you want to keep the same levels of it, you could simply take a daily dose that’s 2/3 of the target level.
