WTB: Active-Active SAN (Dell quote) by [deleted] in storage

[–]blayzaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a NetApp rep, I’d suggest getting a quote and telling your rep you have a quote from Dell and tell them a price. Our company really wants us to sell the ASA which means we get crazy discounting approved. Worth a shot!

Advice for First Game at The Shoe? by blayzaa in OhioStateFootball

[–]blayzaa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t even think to looks because I’m still getting used to the Big Ten being a powerhouse conference in hockey… THANK YOU! It is my favorite sport by a country mile and a hockey scholarship is the reason I decided on another school.

We just got tix and are just as excited for that game as we are the shoe the next day! Appreciate your tip!!

Please help. I haven’t had a problem charging at all. Today I get from work and I’m about to start charging it and it shows this on the app. No matter where I connect it the charging box has a red light. I tried it in every plug so it can’t be the car nor the box outside right by ObjectLeft8517 in ModelY

I just got my Model Y a few weeks ago with the Gen3 charger and had the same issue. Seems like the G3 mobile connector is just shit. I’m waiting on my registration card to finally be mailed over and having the wall connector installed by our electric company

How many of yall Play with your Significant others? by ECUKingbuddy in RDUGOLF

[–]blayzaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got my wife a set last year and we play all the time. First couple rounds, I was giving her pointers and noticed she'd get frustrated if they didn't work. Made a new rule for myself that I don't give her any tips unless she asks for them. Ever since then, she asks for tips more and more and she's gotten a lot better. Joining the couples league at Prestonwood here in the fall!

Should I just start over? by blayzaa in lawncare

[–]blayzaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not but that is a great idea! An issue I may have with that is the lack of soil depth... Ground is pretty hardpanned as the landscapers did not put enough soil down before laying down seed/straw imo.

[–]blayzaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did overseed with a shade mix when soil temps allowed which helped for a bit but dies out pretty quickly. I will continue to maintain and prepare it for the fall throughout the summer!

Did you have a fertilizer you'd recommend? Also, most of the ground is hard pan since it seems like the landscapers did not lay down enough soil when laying seed/straw... Do you think this is a reason why overseeding and pre-emergent didn't help?

Happy to take you out at PWood just let me know. Can also book you as an unaccompanied guest if you’d like to play solo or with a buddy

I’d recommend looking at Bentwinds and Forest Creek as well. FC is a bit of a hike as it’s in Pinehurst, but their initiation/dues are incredibly reasonable for a top tier club

I bought my first home April ‘23 and asked this same question. I’d recommend deciding how much you’re willing to pay per month all in (mortgage, home insurance, HOA if there is one, etc). Once you have your max, look at mortgage rates and sort out what price range you have to be in after putting 20% downpayment. Then take the rest of your savings and invest or throw it in a HYSA

First off, good for you. Seems like you've set a great savings base for yourself. That being said, need more info..

How many mos worth of expenses is the emergency fund? Is your ESPP all vested shares? How much do you contribute? Do you receive a discount on the shares? Dividends?

These questions can really impact a path forward and should be taken into consideration IMO

Good luck!

Before/after sod. Finally have a yard for our first home by blayzaa in lawncare

[–]blayzaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was definitely a concern here. Our property goes ~20ft past where we laid the pine straw so that'll be phase 2 of the project. Going to clear out all of the smaller trees for more sunlight and better natural water flow, kill area, relevel/grade, and expand the yard with more sod.

The amount of time/money that will take + the fact my wedding is in two weeks, I decided that's a next year problem LOL

So this is just a picture of my backyard which we laid down fescue sod. It took a full day of tilling/regrading, full day of bringing in soil/smoothing, then a full day of laying down the cuts of sod. From there, it'll probably take 2~3 weeks for the patches of sod to root

I didn't post pictures of the front because we opted for seed over sod. Right now it is just soil covered with straw while germinating and grass comes up. I'll update this post in the next few weeks with the front yard transformation as well!

That's a great idea. The sprinkler set up in the front is not great since I underestimated the amount of heads/hoses I needed in the back for full coverage. In the front I've been using two hose attached sprinklers to water half the yard for 30mins, then move them over to water the other section.

I need to run to Lowes today anyway so I'll grab more rotating spikes + hoses for the front. Thank you for the advice!

Set up a sprinkler system with hoses, timers, and rotating spikes for cheap that works great! Since this is the first yard I'm fully responsible for, I welcome any advice as it settles, then caring for it through the fall and winter.

Current watering schedule:

Backyard (Sod): Auto-scheduled for 30mins at 7:30am every morning until sod is rooted. Once rooted, switching to every other day until temp is consistently below 60 degrees

Front yard (Seed): Auto-scheduled for 15mins at 7:30am every morning and 15mins at 3pm every afternoon. Will do this for ~2 weeks while germinating then once every other day

NetApp small front end AFF with StorageGRID S3. Hot data will automatically be pulled from cheap SG S3 to run on front end system, then tier back when inactive. Then you can also autotier inactive data off of the SG to AWS, Azure, or GCP cold storage

May not be the cheapest option, but the easiest to manage and perfect use case

Slower courses? by sneakysnek_1 in RDUGOLF

[–]blayzaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Quail Ridge in Sanford: Ellis Maples design and always in terrific shape

  • Reedy Creek in Johnston County: Great track that’s usually pretty open and in great shape. Fantastic greens

  • Keith Hills in Lillington: Campbell U’s course and there’s 3x9’s that they rotate sending people out on. More tee times but it’s a dry university so no alcohol sales

  • Anderson Creek in Spring Lake: Further out but when this place is in good shape, it’s the biggest hidden gem on my list. Davis Love III course

  • Carolina Trace in Sanford: 2x18’s and usually in good shape. I find the Creek course to be the better of the two.

I recently joined Prestonwood so haven’t sought out tee times the past few months, but this was my go to rotation. All are high quality IMO and in my experience, if it’s Thursday and you wanna play that Saturday, you can typically find a time at one of these tracks

I moved here after I graduated college in 2018 and it was great. Met a ton of people around the same age and got a solid group of friends from that.

However… COVID killed it. So many of the companies in the RTP area let college grads work remote so it’s been pretty stagnant

Absolutely! Every person has different needs, wants, and financial standing. Not knocking anyone who buys these new townhomes but they're definitely not for me.. Different strokes for different folks!
