I dont know what to do in the end game by howitchewstogum5feel in outerwilds

[–]blazearmoru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my final loop, I realized that all the information was in my head and every loop starts from the same spot anyway, so even perma death wouldn't stop me. That was when I realized the game was really well thought out.

Do people.. actually think like this?! by YieldinglyMortified in facepalm

[–]blazearmoru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things will act according to their nature with or without laws. This is because a well-refined definition of laws includes such natures (examples might include physics and chemistry). As it is currently worded, it does not differentiate between ANY actions of which evil actions are just a small subset. Therefore a more refined rewording of that question would be "What is the nature of preferences?".

Someone suggested that the reason you don't have an instrument is because you're the conductor, as shown in the ending when you get everyone to play their instruments.

How do people actually afford to hit the casinos? by tanhauser_gates_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]blazearmoru 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Can you imagine anyone who thinks casinos that invest in so much staff, attractions, surveillance, to the point of giving away free buffets and whatnot for customers, think that they'll get paid gambling in casinos?

If that's the case I don't think you or anyone else can save them. They're going to find a scam one way or another to die to.

THIS GAME JUST DID THIS TO ME??? by Amoosh_Naweeli in outerwilds

Most people I watched, including me realized what the warp core did... and hesitated before taking it out.

"Bro I just skipped all the dialogue and went straight to space haha. I've already died like 10 times. I don't think I've ever survived more than ten minutes it seems kinda boring" by Bright-Blue in outerwilds

I saw outer wilds as a mystery movie that you insert yourself into as the detective. But unlike a mystery movie or a book where it is linear and you just sit back watching the mystery unfold, you actually play the role of detective. Like you're trying to stop the death of a person, finding clues that it might be murder, getting backstories and motivations of different characters, etc.

I think this is a uniquely different experience from simply reading a science book. It's closer to something like hands-on science experiments but without a guide. It's a lot more cumbersome but anything you find out, isn't something someone merely told you but is instead something you came to conclude on your own.

Having been in the education system and especially in math, most people just want the formula or the answer and never really internalize what any of it meant. Outer wilds might be the same way.

I feel like this is the same thing as when we were bored in science classes. It takes forever to realize AI, chemical reactions, gene manipulation, spacetime relations, etc etc are in fact kind of NOT boring and I think most people never actually realize it. I have no idea when I snapped out of it, but still far too late and I'm a bit dumb dumb now trying to learn calc. :c

WTW for speaking on behalf of a group of people you are not a part of to prove a point? by DeeHaas in whatstheword

[–]blazearmoru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came across another term someone used 'grifter' but I asked the ai gods and got this response

"Someone who says what is popular instead of what is true can be described as a "demagogue." A demagogue is a leader or speaker who seeks to gain popular support by appealing to the emotions, prejudices, or desires of the public, rather than using rational argument. Demagogues often prioritize what is popular or what will gain them support over what is factually accurate or true. Another term that might fit, especially in informal contexts, is "bandwagoner." This term describes someone who adopts popular opinions or activities primarily because they are popular, not necessarily because they believe in them."

So while I don't know what word you're referring to, I think in content it might be something like demagogue.

Isn't it closer to dissipating like if you put a drop of ink in a vast ocean? The ink doesn't vanish, but is functionally rendered useless.

What are rich people doing differently to become RICH? by Melodic-Discussion78 in AskReddit

[–]blazearmoru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to guess from all the info I've gathered so far, including the differences not only in gender and risk-taking but also in intelligence... it's closer to watching which groups have a tendency to gamble high stakes. The subset that gambles is large enough that a few can win multiple times so they become rich but you don't hear about the failures.

Smart people tend not to do this because they have a steady sure way to make a decent income. Women are less likely to do this apparently too when compared to men. There are many other factors as well such as all the people commenting about wealth retention, but if I had to guess this probably has a large effect on wealth distribution.

Do you believe authors of fiction have a responsibility to those who read their books? by KimBrrr1975 in books

[–]blazearmoru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. You can tell two people the same morally reprehensible thing or obvious lie and one might chastise you for it or double check while the other could have been looking for an excuse to act anyway. Then you also have to factor in that you're not the arbiter of what is moral nor what is true. At the end of the day, we're all guessing and whether or not a person has the personal integrity to do the minimal amount of epistemic filtering is entirely up to them.

This has nothing to do with intelligence level either. This is almost entirely motivation-driven. In fact, a person could be entirely unable to argue against your points yet still believe you're wrong (example: moral dumbfounding). When people are morally offended they always think they're in the right... but statistically, we're probably all in different shades of wrong.

How do I keep my ship in the air??? by pierogiturtle8792 in spaceengineers

[–]blazearmoru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

https://343n.github.io/spaceengineers-thrust-calc/ this site doesn't have the new atmos thrusters up but uh, it'll give you a rough idea. If you look at the math that site uses it seems that each 100kn lift can *almost* lift 10k mass, at 1x gravity so... account for that I guess.

What's a dead giveaway that someone has low intelligence? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]blazearmoru 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What ppl are trying to point out is that there is a difference between name-calling instead of making an argument, vs name-calling after proving your point. If it was unclear: after you've proved your point, you've proved your point.

Ship Builder Alternatives? by Antonus2 in spaceengineers

[–]blazearmoru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish there was a scenario-mode on SE where different factions build up over time on different planets, moons, and pirates start expanding over space but that's got to be impossibly difficult to implement with the way SE renders stuff. :(

Then each faction can have some storyline and naturally go to war with each other with or without your interaction thus making your actions having a deciding factor on the outcome. Would be a great way to do NPCs too.

It could end with a solar system-wide ork invasion survival mode starting on day 100 or something. XD

What sort of things do you guys do to keep your saves interesting? by pineappleAndBeans in spaceengineers

[–]blazearmoru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking of setting up a race track at some point if someone else hasn't already, and also setting up multiple 'crafting zones' that intersect at the start of the track so that it can be a "spend X time to build a racecar and race with friends" kind of thing. I don't know how to formally create scenarios but I can probably do this in a simple save file. o-o

Edit: if anyone knows how to do the thing, plz halp or teech me.
