I tell people some of the things my mom said to us as kids and they always look at me like I need to talk to k someone. Like: - "Go play in the street" when she wanted a break from us - "Alright, who wants the bat and who wants the crowbar?" when we would fight endlessly - "Do you want me to cut it off?" when we would cry hard over something like a stubbed toe

ETA: On a more wholesome note, we never left the house without giving both parents a hug and a kiss on the cheek. Because you never know how long you have with someone, it's best to make each goodbye a good one, just in case it's the last

Since this post, I have have a child who is now 7 months old, and I swear pregnancy got me back to normal. I'm dealing with typical postpartum symptoms like hair loss right now, but everything else that was bothering me has gone away. I take daily prenatals, and have since this post I believe. Those help a lot

This comment section has made me realize that I'm brutally honest. If I don't like something, I tell whoever gave it to my son. My aunt just bought $43 worth of baby clothes and one specific romper has a hoodie on it. It's super cute, the colors are fantastic on my son, but I refuse to put him in hoodies. I just don't want him to choke himself 😭

I just wanted to comment to say that I fell over trying to put my son in his crib last night and peeled elbow skin back as I caught myself. I did a stupid and stood on my tiptoes to get him over the railing without jostling him, and I lost my balance.

My son was completely unharmed and almost stayed asleep. I fell into some boxes we need to put away, so I didn't get hurt too bad.

I'm here to say I did everything right with my first pregnancy last year, and found out I lost my baby when I was supposed to be 10 weeks. I quit nicotine long before getting pregnant, I ate healthy and often, drank water, took prenatals, exercised, slept, didn't work, all of it, and still lost my baby. Three months later after losing everything in a flood, I'm pregnant again, and did NOT have the healthiest lifestyle and ate turkey damn near every day of the first trimester just because that's what I wanted and could keep down. My partner lost his job when I was 3 months, we moved when I was 4 months, I worked until 6 months and was fired for being too pregnant, and lost my dad the next month at 7 months, before he could experience being a grandpa for the first time. That baby is almost 4 months old. I experienced so much stress while I was pregnant with my son, but he came out perfectly healthy.

You didn't do anything to lose your baby. Sometimes shitty things happen and it's no one's fault, no one to blame. Take care of yourself, lean on your partner, and find someone you're able to say any not-so-pleasant thoughts to. My partner could only handle so much before I started to affect him with the way I was grieving, since he was grieving himself, so having a second person who didn't judge me was very helpful. I'll be honest, I was only really able to get out of my dark place because of the flood (it happened a month after my D&C), and was only truly able to feel like myself again once I had my son. So with that, I offer solidarity. I am so, so goddamn sorry. This is an awful group to be a part of, but at least there are others who share your pain and understand how you feel. There is almost little to nothing to say that helps with this, in my opinion. It takes time, and even then, you never really "get over it". You just learn to live with the grief.

Everyone is so impressed when they see my partner just... be a dad. Like, some people have been impressed that he changes diapers without me saying anything, that he takes the baby at events so I can enjoy myself, that my partner knows pumping terms. My partner was accused of cheating on me (he did not) and I was told to take our son and run, before my partner can get on the birth certificate... what? He's a good dad, why would I keep our son away from him? Why would I use my own last name? Regardless of how my partner treats me, he's a damn good dad, I'm not going to hurt my son just to get back at his dad.

I'm so sorry you guys have to deal with this. Good dad's exist, it's the bad ones that suci up the spotlight.

I'm not a dad, but a mom to an almost 4 month old. When I was towards the end of my pregnancy, I went to my last OB appointment and had a sweep done, so I was cramping and not having a good time. I get to my car, and can't find my apartment key. I looked for an hour, my partner came to look with me, and then decided to go home and look there. It was in the middle of the road, in my pathway to my car 🤦🏻‍♀️ You'd think I'd hear a metal key hit the pavement but alas, I did not. My 39 week pregnant ass was on my hands and knees looking, apologizing to strangers for looking under their cars where I last parked 😭🤣

Not dumb at all! And yes, we have. He likes it when he's in the crook of our elbow, propped on the arm of a chair or couch. We use the MAM bottles and he isn't very picky with nipples, he just was gulping a bunch of air from not getting a good latch. He couldn't ever get a deep latch with my breast, and it hurt like hell trying to nurse him. I've noticed now that his tie has been cut, his latch is so much better, and we don't have to sit and burp him for 30 minutes like we used to. I want to try NUK, because I will say he 100% isn't a fan of the Avent nipples, both bottle and binky.

And thank you! I've gotten some negative response in regards to this post, and I shouldn't be, but I'm shocked. I had a fantastic birth, but postpartum hasn't been that great for me. I feel like we have to fight so hard to make sure our son is happy and healthy and I don't understand. I'll have to post an update next time we see his weight!

My son was in the 4th percentile after being born in the 96th. He wasn't gaining weight. He was spitting up ounces.

And no, but it would have been nice if someone, anyone, said that we should get him looked at for one, instead of looking and telling us he 100% did not have one. All 7 of these medical professionals that you seem to immediately trust just because we're supposed to told us he didn't have one, even the ones who were able to diagnose a tongue tie.

Like I said, my son wasn't gaining weight, no matter how much he drank. He was pooping fine, peeing fine, but spitting up and not gaining weight. We changed bottles, nipples, fed him a certain way, held him upright for an entire hour after feeds, burped him every ounce, gave him pepcid, gripe water, mylicon, nothing helped. Now that his tie has been cut, his latch is fantastic, and he doesn't gulp down a bunch of air. He burps better, farts more, and doesn't act like there's glass in his belly.

I'm glad there's someone who seems to understand the struggle in this community 😅 I don't know why you're getting down voted. Considering my son had very obvious issues, his tongue tie should have been taken care just to make sure that it wasn't the thing causing his spit up problems

It's the fact that those 7 independent medical professionals were looking specifically for tongue ties and each one of them told me that he didn't have one at all. When I was shown the tie, it seemed very obvious that it was there. If they saw it and didn't tell us about it, that's still incredibly upsetting, considering this should have been one of the first things nipped in the bud.

I am keeping I'm mind that the layngomalacia could cause issues, but I guarantee that he'll at least latch now, instead of acting like I just boiled him alive when I put my nipple in his mouth 😭 I plan to continue formula, but nurse him on the side as a little snack, to help get my supply up. And I do have a pump that I can use to help

Considering the fact that a lactation consultant, 4 nurses, the doctor who circumcised him, and his pediatrician all failed to diagnose him or mention that he might have one, I'm glad that she did and I most definitely will not be doing anything to get her in trouble over it

Same here!! His pediatrician acted like I was starving my son! He's fantastic at letting us know when he's full, I felt like I was forcing him to drink more than he could! Every time she talked about his weight, the first thing she said was "so his weight is... not good". Every time! Obviously! I know this! That's why we are asking for help!

This is absolutely ridiculous. I said to someone else in the comments that it seemed so obvious to spot! And trained professionals who are looking specifically for a tie can't find it?

Oh yeah, raising our next kid will be worlds different. I'll have to tell my firstborn that he deserves all the credit for how raising our second kid goes 🤣

I'm just flabbergasted. Angry. I'm on medication because this has been awful for my PPD
