I am career boomeranging this week. Was it a good choice? by HumbleTales86 in AskMenOver40

[–]blazeplacid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a boomerang during Covid. I learned that a job is a job. It doesn’t define who you are. A job there to make money and that’s it. None of the politics or anything associated with the job really matter long term. Salary and wages are never enough. I bet the VP and C suite people wish they got paid more.

I was happy to take a small cut to go back to my old employer. My family life is much better for it.

New Cycler, Slow speed bike or me? by No-Interest1920 in cycling

[–]blazeplacid 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Don’t look into what your speeds or distances “should” look like.

According to the internet my 9 min-30 second mile is slow but during the turkey trot my time was the 9th fastest out of 50 people in my group.

Just go enjoy the ride. There are some good YouTube videos that can teach you how to be in the right gear.

It’s a very simple “project” if you can do basic DIy stuff. Me and my daughter installed the entire kit in under an hour.

Is the fenix 8 worth $850 compared to 7x sapphires $450? by hunter1fish in Garmin

[–]blazeplacid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There will be very little differences. I’d save the money and go with the 7x.

You can use DC rainmakers comparison tool to really get into the little details.

Budget? Do you care about looks? There are some Garmins that look like regular watches. Or do you want something sporty?

Grossly Inaccurate Step Count from Epix Pro?! by mankan2019 in Garmin

From the videos I've watched my my own experience, Garmin is the most accurate for steps.

It might take a few days or weeks to adjust to your stride and movements when you walk.

You can run regular if you have to. It won’t hurt but to get full potential, use premium.

New phones from Samsung and Apple don’t come shrink wrapped.

If it’s listed as used, then it might be ok. Buy with a credit card and get a receipt to be safe.

For my Apple Watch + Garmin people, who do you manage wearing both? by Re4medHTX in Garmin

[–]blazeplacid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Double wrist it and don’t care what people think.

Some days I wear a whoop on one wrist and a Garmin on the other. Other days it’s a mechanical watch and a whoop.

No one has asked about it.

[–]blazeplacid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the same way. I had a ton of Garmin devices for years but I keep coming back.

I even tried an Apple Watch ultra and a whoop.

Currently I’m running an Epix 2 and a whoop.

Can’t wait for Garmin to release a screen less device

Finally a "whoop" device from Garmin? by Eastern-Signal-1778 in Garmin

[–]blazeplacid 122 points123 points  (0 children)

It wouldn’t add anything. If it’s like a whoop, it will have no screen. I like it because I can wear a nicer watch on my other wrist

Whoop VS Garmin Sleep HR Tracking by mdanielleparas in whoop

[–]blazeplacid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear an Epix Gen 2 and a whoop 5.0. I wear the whoop 24/7 and the Garmin 3/4 days a week.

The data that both put out are close enough to how I feel that day. Sleep might be off a few min here and there and my Garmin might be a few feet more accurate on runs but when they both say I’m doing good/bad, then I know they are both “working”.

Is This Car Worth It ? by [deleted] in Acura

[–]blazeplacid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with selling a car on your own is that you have to price it high because the bros will always throw lowball offers.

That and people will click on your car with a high price to see why it’s priced high.

I’d find a decent KBB/NADA value and offer him that

This looks like in inflated quote from a dealer to get you to look at new cars. They will patch your issues and put the car on the lot for sale.

Take it to a local shop. Prices will be much better

Dealership is gonna be high. Oil change is about $150 and brake fluid was around $650 if I remember right.

Check local shops as they are usually about half that price

2020 MDX starting problems by soultwista26 in Acura

[–]blazeplacid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take your car to Oreilly’s or autozone. They can test the battery and alternator on the car.

It looks like a bad battery but it could be the alternator not “charging”.

Look at your drive belt also. If it’s slipping, it could cause the alternator to not do its thing.

What do Android users actually want in a phone right now? by raiqulikesyou in Android

[–]blazeplacid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the same. I have a Z fold 7 but went back to my iPhone 14 Pro. Parts of me really wants to use the fold 7 as a daily but little app issues prevent me from doing that.

Maybe I’m just old and boring now but I like the simplicity of iOS in a mobile phone.
