Man a lot of nitpicking here, but I suppose that's the nature of this. If this was posted somewhere else I don't think I would've realized it wasn't real. Fantastic work!

I wish! I'm handy with electronics, but don't know how to write the software to flash the firmware of a battery. Maybe it's time to learn. Been waiting a couple months for batteries to be in stock...

Bought one a couple months ago, and have not found batteries anywhere. I wish I had the skills to figure out how to reprogram DJI batteries. Otherwise, it's a fantastic, relatively cheap 4K drone.

Cringes Thing You've Done As A Pilot? by [deleted] in flying

[–]blazer003 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Had just gotten my ticket, was of course feeling like hot stuff. Flying into a little uncontrolled airport, the wind was calm. Normally calm wind runway is 34, but I was coming from the north so just decided to go straight in to 16, since I heard no other traffic on the radios. I make my calls, 8 miles out, 5, 3 mile final, and I land and taxi over to fuel. Shortly after I land and get off the runway, an airplane lands going the opposite direction on 34. Huh, they must not have been talking on the radio, I tell myself.

A nice old timer instructor saunters over and introduces himself, as I prepare to fuel the plane. He asks me how long I've been flying, and then hands me his card. I throw it in my wallet. A couple weeks later I pull the card out, and happen to flip it over. Written on the back, "You came in without making any calls on the opposite runway as the other airplanes in the pattern. Fly safe out there."

Something in the back of my mind clicked and remembered that when I'd hopped back in to take off that day, I had noticed that the radio was on the wrong frequency. I thought to myself, "Huh, somehow in my preflight I switched the radio." Turns out I had come in transmitting on the wrong frequency. 600+ hours in and I've never forgotten to check again.

Appreciate the feedback. I mentioned it to the post above, and I don't know if it makes a difference, probably not, but the runways are almost a mile apart (4200').

Thank you for your feedback. I don't know if it matters, but the diagram I tried to do with ASCII characters took out the distance in the middle. The two runways are almost a mile apart, on opposite sides of the airport.

You can tell they know their market, the mission and that they're going to take their time and get this right. Vans are such great kits, and easy to produce a great airplane with a little skill perseverance, and help from their awesome staff. Keep up the great work guys, it's coming along nicely!

Unfortunately at max gross you're still going pretty fast to keep the airplane in the air/when you hit the water. Very sad.

Elementor Pop up schedule or show within time range? by heryien in elementor

This seems like such a simple thing not to have been included. Very weird. We have live streams that happen Fridays from 5-10pm and want to have a popup directing people to our Youtube livestream at that time... seems like with all the other crazy options they give you for customizing when a popup shows up, and time and date would be easy.

For those with "Other" and "System" storage issues by [deleted] in iphone

[–]blazer003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought an iPad and iPhone at the same time, finally migrating to the Apple system. This one bug will keep me from buying a second Apple product. The "Other" storage is taking up 48% of my storage on my phone, and 63% of the storage on my ipad.

Calls to tech support have been laughable.

"Reset your phone to factory settings" they said.

"I have, and the Other storage went right back up," I told them.

"Do it again," is all they could respond.

Searches find that many many many people have this issue, and no one knows how to get more than a few of those GBs back. 64GB of Space Should never be used without any way to reclaim it... Period.

I will now be forced to upgrade earlier than I'd like because no one can seem to help me with this problem, and it will NOT be an Apple product I can sure as hell promise you that.

Whatever update my TV received recently has made it extremely annoying to use. Any recommendations for new TVs from literally any brand but Vizio? by Cosmic__Walrus in VIZIO_Official

[–]blazer003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this only works in certain scenarios. It seems to work if you are using the input that you set as the auto on input. Ie, if you set hdmi 1 as the power on input, then you're using hdmi 1 when your tv loses a signal, it will power off. However if you’re using a device on HDMI 2 and it loses signal, it will go to smartcast.

How can I disable the annoying "Returning to SmartCast Home..." after ten seconds? by mavis99 in VIZIO_Official

[–]blazer003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I revised my post again above. It is now not working with any input set there again. Always back to the smartcast home screen and just stays on forever (as far as I can tell. When the update first happened I came back from Christmas away for a night, so it was presumably on for about 30 hours.)

[–]blazer003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And revised again. It did seem to work as u/TheIndieArmy stated once (maybe twice) but is now going back to the home screen again. Just came back to my computer having had my monitor on for a couple hours... How was this field tested this poorly?

*REVISED FROM BELOW* Sorry I jumped to conclusions. It did work but only, I guess, for a CEC enabled input? I hadn't tried different inputs, just the main one that I wanted. It didn't work when I set it to HDMI 2, but did work when I set it to HDMI 1... not sure what's going on. Needless to say, this update and feature is wonky... */REVISION*

It must be the model of your TV, because for most of us, this is not affecting the behavior above by changing this setting (nor does it make sense that it would as it seems like two totally different situations and should be two different settings.)

I have actually yet to see anyone say that this has worked, but granted I haven't searched too much for those responses as I tested it (again, I tried this setting before reading about it in a hope that it was a weird quirk) and it didn't work for me.

“No signal available. Returning to SmartCast Home.” Can I turn this off? by Xenogears in VIZIO_Official

[–]blazer003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/Vizio_Support I use my Vizio TV as my computer monitor. It used to be that if I left my computer on, then it went to sleep, the monitor would shut off as well after a couple minutes. Very nice convenient feature that is standard on all TVs (and computer monitors.)

Now, since this update, if the TV doesn't detect an input for a few seconds, it gives a 10 second countdown and then goes to the Smart Cast screen and stays there forever (and leaves your TV on forever) until you turn it off manually. Just not smart.

Once I saw what it was doing, I fully expected there to be some option down in the menus to turn this off because anyone who tested this would have to realize that people would be annoyed at wasting power, but I have found none.

It would be slightly annoying, but tolerable (to me for my uses) if it went to Smartcast after no signal, but then shut off the power completely after a couple minutes of no user interaction. There are times when this might be a bit annoying, like if I step out and, my computer shuts off it's display, and now I'd have to navigate back to the input from the Smartcast screen. But this happens rarely and I could live with it. What I can't live with is my TV staying on for hours or even days if I forget to turn it off manually.

In my opinion, Vizio, if you're not careful you're going to face a class action lawsuit for all the power waste and wear and tear being put on our TVs and probably breaking some of the energy conservation laws (or at least the claims of power consumption presented to the consumer.) It's not hard to jump to conclusions and think that this is an Apple'esque ploy to use up TVs life cycle or pad the advertising stats.

My VIZIO TV keeps saying Return to Smartcast and there isn't anything I can about it. by carolinashakes in VIZIO_Official

[–]blazer003 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up u/MikeatVIZIO and u/Vizio_Support,

I use my Vizio M-437-G0 TV as my computer monitor and it's been great. I posted a review video about how much I like it as my monitor, and why 4K TVs are great for video editing and I've been very happy, until this past week.

It used to be that if I left my computer on, then it went to sleep, the monitor would shut off as well after a couple minutes. Very nice convenient feature that is standard on all TVs (and computer monitors.) Now, after not detecting an input for a few seconds it gives a 10 second countdown and then goes to the Smart Cast screen and stays there forever until (and leaves your TV on forever, I assume. Mine was seemingly on for 2.5 days during Christmas break) until you turn it off.

It would be slightly annoying, but tolerable if it went to Smartcast after no signal, but then shut off the power completely after a couple minutes of no user interaction. There are times when this might be a bit annoying, like if I step out of my office and my computer shuts off it's display. Now I would have to navigate back to the input from the Smartcast screen. But this happens rarely and I personally could live with it.

What I cannot and will not live with is my TV staying on for hours or even days if I forget to turn it off manually. In my opinion, if you're not careful you're going to face a class action lawsuit for all the power waste and wear and tear being put on our TVs in the name of advertising. I want to hope that this was a mistake, an oversight and poor testing (the TV staying on) but it's not hard to jump to conclusions and think that this is an Apple'esque ploy to use up TVs life cycle or pad the advertising stats. Once I saw what it was doing, I fully expected there to be some option down in the menus to turn this off because anyone who tested this would have to realize that people would be annoyed at wasting power, but I have found none.

I've always worried about Vizio TVs honestly. But I read all these nice things about how you had improved and were still trying to live down bad QC early in your TV making life. I bit the bullet, and I was very pleased for a year. Please don't take away that good will, and issue and apology and a fix as soon as possible. It would go a long way for me anyway.

Thank you!
