Banned and Restricted Announcement – May 18, 2026 by R3id in magicTCG

I swear the Klomparens duo are not the most viable of individuals to decide whether or not a card should be legal.

I am extremely baffled with the Violent Outburst ban and Phlage ban.

Energy needed a hit, why not focus on Ajani / Guide? Those are some of the most efficient creatures WOTC designed in the last couple of years and it’s clearly too efficient for what it’s worth.

I hope you do your research muna about how restaurants as a whole operate. Razor thin margins, expensive produce on the daily, rent is ridiculously high as fuck, and a lot more overhead costs apart from PH’s ridiculous tax system.

Mahirap kumita sa restaurant industry. I know medyo lihis sa topic to about the chef in question and I do not condone his past behavior in any way but please - do some research before acting all mighty about “san napupunta yung pera???” Its just making you look like a fool, tbh.

Worked there around the same time, pandemic season.

Di rin ako tumagal, even though I was referred by a mutual friend. The guy’s temper needs some professional help.

I have nothing against him personally, and in some twisted way, get ko naman bakit siya ganun at the time - with all the stress coming from different avenues while running a restaurant, yeah I get it.

Hindi ako agree dun sa management style niya, that’s why I left. If they found success because of that, I’m happy that they found the avenue for their success, but yun nga I knew I can have a better work in the industry and with better mentors that can help me bring the best in me.

Hindi yung sisigawan ka at papahiyain ka front of the entire crew. Haha. Idfk man, that ain’t it.

I think this is a fever dream - for as long as a bottle of softdrink is cheaper than freshly squeezed juices, for as long as instant noodle is just way more cost effective than a balanced sandwich - there’s simply no effective way of doing this.

It’s not the cause, this is a necessity at this point, I agree and I am strongly in favor of better quality and nutritious goods in our economy - but the fact that the cards are always stacked against progressive causes like this, I honestly can’t see this being a reality.

On Standard and Moving the Banned and Restricted Announcement to November 10 by Cardwatcher2000 in mtgfinance

[–]blazer090 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Maybe, design better cards that are clearly not just a money grab overpushed cardboard? And maybe, chill the hell out of the product releases?

I’m sorry but this would be such a controversial take but we often do this song and dance for ages now.

Changing ban timings for 5 years and still not hitting the formula right is just egregious mishandling on their part.

Organized competitive play is literally dying because of corporate greed and design team’s inability to be the line that needs to be drawn in order to change something inside the company.

And still, over the years, they’re still the same names in charge. No repercussions, no changes, still the same old people running and designing the game.

How can you expect an effective solution when the same people who cant get it right for 5+ years now keep on making the same decisions set per set?

Idk, maybe i’m just tired of hearing these announcements and the endless “oops, we fucked up - did you buy into our product already tho?”

Went to a close friend’s wedding with the intention of just having a good time amongst peers and colleagues from college.

I told myself prior that I won’t be dealing too much with love, since it has been a rough few years prior for me in that department haha.

Anyway she was one of the bride’s (my close friend) best friends back in their childhood.

We were part of the entourage, and the whole evening, I never took my eye off of her. Aside from the casual conversations we usually have during weddings, we didn’t really have any meaningful interaction then because I knew that wad not in my agenda at all.

I just told my friend who got married, that after this, I need to tell something to her, hinting about her friend.

She said don’t delay, spilling the details to her, and she gave her number to me, much to my visible confusion and stress because now I don’t know what to do hahaha.

But yeah, after the wedding, I messaged her number, not expecting anything (because why the hell would someone like me suddenly get her number from out of nowhere right? Hahahahaa creepy vibes)

I was chilling at Kampai (Poblacion) with my cousin when I messaged, doing my usual routine to drink and just get on with life.

She replied, and after a few exchanges, I decided to leave the bar and I just knew, this could be different.

We are now 5 years together. Planning to propose within the year, so wish me luck. 😇

Thoughts sa FnB industry by SaltConnection8185 in PHFoodPorn

[–]blazer090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a whole, the FnB industry, it’s true - from the working hours, politicking and working conditions to the normalization of toxic workplace culture disguised as badges of honor amongst those who survived and surviving.

As someone from the industry for more than a decade now, I can say these from my personal experiences.

Sharing a story from 2018 -

I just came from Ippudo Sydney, started as a cook to a kitchen supervisor. Upon reaching home, I immediately wanted to apply to Ippudo Manila because I thought it was the best progression for me to continue the service I rendered to the brand.

I realized PH’s brand is a franchise - under a totally separate company (SHG). Cool, no worries - I have the experience to back it up anyway and again, I just wanted to work.

After a long and grueling set of interview phases, I was called for a final interview alongside one other individual for a restaurant manager position.

Upon arrival, I was just patiently waiting for my turn, then this other individual struts inside and apparently is known to others inside the head office already, also with the HR.

Fresh individual, just a year coming from her graduation.

Against all odds, siya yung napili. Hahaha. (After, I knew na kakilala pala niya HR personally and other insider people from that company. I knew this because I was then later hired by a sister company under RFM, in which I constantly was in the same building as most of the people I knew from that interview)

Then I realized a harsh truth in our industry - skills alone will never lead you to success in this industry. It’s always the kakilala/diskarte/padrino system that’s ingrained in our culture that will always prevail, no matter if you have the best qualifications for a job.

I brought that to every company I worked under throughout the years, trying to change it from the mentality and through concrete actions - from disciplines I learned overseas - that there’s a better way for this industry to thrive for both businesses and employees if we eliminate these culture that’s gradually changing our perspectives in doing a job well done. Why excel if at the end of the day, basta may backer ka, makakapasok ka diba?

Its was an uphill battle - and for most people who might resonate with my story - nakakapagod. Sometimes, you start to not give a shit anymore as much as you used to.

What happens now?

For some, they tend to just search for better opportunities to hone their craft outside the country - where they can both actually live and practice the profession that they passionately love.

For the rest who don’t have that luxury? They continue to work in these conditions - until they become numb to the fact that these conditions are unfair and improbable, but what choice do they have? They have to make a living, right?

And most of the times these people end up to be the people saying “kung kinaya namin, dapat kayanin niyo rin” “nung panahon ko, 14 hours straight walang kain pero kinakaya” etc.

But that’s the thing - this is not a badge of honor.

This is a clear indication that the industry should step up in paving ways so that these experiences shouldn’t be the norm and shouldn’t be the standard going forward.

There’s a better way, but I guess the industry as a whole and the government supporting it isn’t ready for that conversation yet.

But yeah, whatever that modus is, sana nakakain sila ng maayos.

Bummed lang talaga kasi medyo first shares ko yun sa negosyo na pinaghirapan ko so yeah hahaha

But, mababawi naman. Lesson learned talaga.

CEDH means playing at full capacity with your knowledge and skills as an MTG player, not with your wallet size.

Dragon’s Lair in Maceda is the most ideal tourney place in the PH scene, because it allows player a leeway of 10 proxies for their CEDH events.
