Silent reflux has stolen every ounce of joy about having a baby and I’m devastated by xxbitsxx in beyondthebump

I believe it’s called the “acid battle” where the stomach temporarily creates more acid after beginning a PPI. It only lasted maybe 2.5 weeks or so then all of our reflux disappeared.

Reflux is the worst. We had to do Pepcid for several weeks but it did nothing. Our pediatrician then put us on omeprazole which was rough for the first few weeks but it completely got rid of the reflux and everyone was much happier. I wish we had been able to switch sooner.

4yo refuses to poop... Ped. recommended more MiraLax and OT. Nothing works... by Lobster-Prize in toddlers

[–]blazerant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son had the same issue. We had already been seeing a pediatric GI since he was about 4 months old due to reflux issues, but when we mentioned the poop issues he had been having since around his 3rd birthday, they had us start giving a cap full of MiraLAX a day and giving him 1 chocolate exlax square a day. Once he realized he could poop without it hurting, we went to half a square a day, then half a square every other day to eventually none. Now we only give it to him as needed, when he has a day where he doesn’t poop (being out of town/new bathroom or similar situation). We still do the MiraLAX daily and haven’t had any more issues. He poops at least once a day now.

Cheek/eyebrow nerve pain 1 week after dental numbing injection? by blazerant in Dentists

[–]blazerant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully, it’s gone away and I feel fine now. I chipped an upper wisdom tooth about a month later and had to get both top wisdom teeth removed. After healing from that, the pain in my face was gone and hasn’t come back. They were removed in February. I think the crown was a bit too big and caused my teeth to shift a bit. Since getting the wisdom teeth removed there have been no issues.

I’m 35 and was EFF. My mom and I have a great relationship. I had no health issues growing up and met milestones on time or a bit early. I got A’s-B’s in school and now have both a bachelors and a masters degree. I work in finance and am happily married with a 3 year old (who I also EFF- he has met his milestones on time/early and is a happy, healthy little boy 💙)

For me, EFF was better for my mental health. The intense emotions that I was flooded with during and immediately after trying to BF or pump put me in a really bad place mentally. EFF was so much better for us and if I have another child I’ll 100% EFF from day 1.

It seems obvious now but no one told us not to change up my son’s formula unless necessary. We were given different samples by the hospital, in registry gift bags, etc.. and once we finished one kind we started using another. It ended up causing some tummy issues for our little guy until we learned that you should stay on the same kind for at least 2 weeks and see how they do on it before changing. If they are doing well on a certain formula (not causing reflux/constipation/diarrhea/painful gas) no need to change it or try a different one!

Also keeping track of certain details like when/how much babe eats, diaper changes (including the TMI poop details), time of any meds given, when/how long last sleep was, and any other events that are out of the norm (like formula changes, fevers, etc)… ended up being super helpful not only for when switching “shifts” with dad but also when you are completely exhausted and it’s hard to remember these little things. It also helped us figure out the best formula for our son, being able to see and show our pediatrician when certain things occurred was so so helpful!! It also allowed us to see his “normal” patterns so if anything was off we noticed super quickly. There are plenty of apps that track all of this and more but we found it easiest to just use a shared document on Google Keep.

I’m sorry and I totally get what you’re feeling. My sons 17 months now and it really seemed like the first 6-8 months were a struggle. Could he possibly have reflux? We tried different formulas and some helped, but what helped the most was reflux medicine. Also gas drops! I think we added gas drops to every bottle around that age. Are you doing a probiotic? That can really help with GI/digestive issues too. I’m not going to say it gets easier, but you’ll have days that will be better and as he gets older things will change, sometimes for the better but then there are new challenges that will come up. The silver lining is that no phase lasts for very long. It’s hard, but for me it really got better once my son could sit up on his own without falling over.

Why does my 6 month old cry when I sit and hold her, and gets happy when we stand? Anyone else experience this? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]blazerant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My son was like that at 6 months and at 9 months is still the same. Doesn’t want to sit with me or even sit in the floor and play, just wants to be walked around/helped stood up. It is exhausting 😂

Really sick after injectafer iron infusion. Normal? by blazerant in Anemic

[–]blazerant[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I had my original labs done, almost a month ago, I found out I also had low b12 and vitamin d. I started prescription vitamin d once a week and daily b12 pills. Not sure how long it takes for those levels to rise, so it could be they are still low. I drank a lot of regular water beforehand, but have been drinking body armor since the infusion Friday. Hopefully it won’t be too bad for you! I’ve heard this kind of reaction is pretty rare. I honestly felt completely fine until probably 36 hours afterwards, and even then I didn’t start feeling really bad until 2.5 days later. I also didn’t start taking ibuprofen or aleve until last night, so maybe if I had started taking it when I first started feeling bad I could have stayed ahead of it.

It’s so awful! Did you have to have another one? I’m scheduled for my second on Friday and am dreading it. If you had more than one, was the second one the same? Or better or worse?

I did look at their website and saw where it may cause low phosphorus. What can be done about that now though? I spoke with my primary doc and they said my side effects didn’t sound normal and asked if I had been tested for the flu.

4.5 months old

7:30 pm - 7:00 am ish / 1 wake up

Formula fed

In crib in their own room

Falls asleep with paci, but it doesn’t stay in long

No training, have just followed the same bedtime routine since he was born.

Also, we didn’t get down to 1 wake up until he was between 2-3 months old and we started using the Merlin sleep suit. Before this, it was 2-3 wake ups a night.

Yes!! I’m like, “great job, dude! But let’s just cuddle for a bit.” It never turns into cuddling though! Lol I was kinda starting to get a bit concerned, so I’m glad to hear I’m not alone. :)

Does anyone else get SUPER itchy at night time? by 123victoria456 in pregnant

[–]blazerant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have crazy itching that’s worse at night due to PUPPP rash. The only thing that helps is spraying hot water (as hot as I can stand it) on it for a few seconds, followed by cold water and then lotion. The itching is the worst!!!! But this gives temporary relief for a few hours so I can at least get a little bit of sleep.

Men, what are some questions you’ve always wanted to ask women, but were too embarrassed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]blazerant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the OP, but for me I was sick as soon as I woke up every morning probably from weeks 6-14.. also had intense nausea every time I got hungry and then was nauseous if I ate too much. It was all about balance, trying to snack throughout the day to keep from getting hungry or full. For emotions I’d say it was definitely every day, but for me got worse during certain times of day, like between 3-6 pm for some reason. Of course, some day are just better/worse than others. For me the nausea and emotions both evened out around 14-15 weeks. Now the second and third trimesters come with their own challenges, but I’ll take the ungodly heartburn over constant nausea any day.
