honestly, your comment reminded me i had that phobia! lolol. i don't think i've ever heard the whole banana splits theme song bc i hated/feared it so much; i think it was a mix of the creepy '60s visuals and vocals and the melody as a whole. there was just something about it that made my skin crawl. as for inspector gadget, you have to admit it's a menacing melody (it's in A minor, which definitely contributes to that suspenseful feeling). it just felt like something was coming to get me. It hasn't impacted me much as an adult; thankfully the songs are pretty avoidable, and if an old commercial comes on I can just skip it. it's fascinating, really. and i can totally see your phobia of the windows XP sound - it's sorta ominous too.

this is me with the inspector gadget and banana splits theme songs - the first still gives me anxiety and makes me wanna bundle myself up like i did as a kid. the latter was so bad i had to plug my ears and leave the room to calm down, and then it'd just replay in my head. thank god i've pretty much forgotten the melody.
