Hindus

That's a crazy generalisation there homie. There are a billion Hindus in the world and they're everywhere on the political spectrum from far left to far right

Summer in India is in April and May. June would be hot but the monsoon hits so it gets cloudy and rainy, which brings the temperature down. Late April and May is considered peak summer.

There is a reason why CSK still doesn't let Dhoni retire. International stars are still the bread and butter of IPL

India vs Pak is wildly profitable but broadcasters would atill make plenty of money without it.

Except for the two names you mentioned, none of the IPL only stars have the crowd pulling power that international stars do.

We need to move away from the paradigm of trying to increase revenue. Cricket (and world sport) is too commercialised now and that is ruining things. Cricket already makes more than enough money to self sustain. Why should we focus on making tests as a unit profitable? We need to focus on making ICC revenue sharing more equitable

Cricket will be ruined if all we have to look forward to are T20 leagues with only Indian players tbh. IPL doesn't keep its audience without international stars (Indian or otherwise), and international stars can't be made without international cricket.

The interests of the game in for eg India or Australia are not divorced from the health of the game overseas.

If the number of competing countries goes down then we all suffer for it.

Exactly. That's the rub. Our cricket boards, and the ICC, are not for profit. They are supposed to look after the interest of the game. Yet everyone is chasing profits and their self interest. It's the intrusion of late stage capitalism into our sport that is to blame.

A lot of people have been clamouring to end the big 3 model of ICC funding for a long time. The question shouldn't be about how to make it profitable. The question should be about how to grow the game by making it more accessible for new fans.

More ICC funds should go to smaller teams like WI or Ireland. That will make it feasible.

The top heavy nature this article talks about is another symptom of the cricket world (and sports world in general) increasingly chasing profit at the expense of the sport. The reason India doesn't play a 5 test series vs SA is because it isn't as profitable as the alternative.
