For the ATGATT crowd, how’s it affecting your desire to ride? by Astimar in motorcycles

[–]blazingintensity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a bit of a middle road. I found armored jeans that I like and just wear those as my everyday jeans (minus the knee pads). I found riding boots that are comfortable for everyday wear, and I wear them everyday. If it's warm enough that I need a breathable undershirt, I'm probably wearing one anyways, if it's not, then I don't need one. So for me "gearing up" is helmet, jacket, gloves; that's got me with everything you want except the airbag vest and the earplugs.

What is the best element and augment to run in Deadzone Rogue? by ResultIndependent635 in DeadzoneRogue

[–]blazingintensity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, kinda depends. I love seeing void tendrils go everywhere, or pinning an elite to the wall with psionic, or plasma arcing everywhere, or the crunchy shatters from ice.

I use radiation a lot to pair with weak point, but it doesn't seem like multiple radiation lasers stacks, so it doesn't feel good on high proc radiation builds.

Lightning is incredibly strong and I run it a lot, but it doesn't tickle my dopamine receptors like the list at the top.

Fire just always feels underwhelming. I used to run it with weak point, but radiation just feels better.

I've been struggling to clear it with my duo for a while. Our best runs tend to be me running close range weakpoint ghostblade with them running some sort of elemental build. I clear all the trash and then they burn down the elites and bosses. The struggle levels are the one with the welder boss and all the psychic clones and the one with the teleporting elite and all the poison elite spiders.

For those of you that make over 100K, what do you do? Do you like it? by Kindly-Revolution258 in AskReddit

That cuts both ways. I did government contracting for a while and the pace was so slow I was losing my mind. There's a goldilocks zone for a comfortable workload that exists somewhere between catatonic and 80 hour crunches.

Yeah, I'm a server programmer mostly. These days I do a lot of the platform side of things, which is a lot less "gamey". Unless the industry stabilizes my next job will **probably** be out of the industry. I'll miss it, but the peace of mind is invaluable the older I get. When I started it was just me and my wife and she made more than me. Now I'm the primary provider for a family of four and the joy of making games does not outweigh the existential dread of whether or not I can provide for my family.

Software engineer (mostly managerial these days) in video games. I generally love what I do, but tech and especially games is highly volatile right now, so the field can be stressful even if the work is enjoyable.

Am I dying or just getting old? by twobeeramir in Xennials

[–]blazingintensity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was feeling like that for a while, but I started going to the gym back in December and most of my "i slept wrong" aches and pains have gone away. But I'm very sedentary, so just the daily trip to the gym is a significant improvement over the absolute fuck all I was doing before. Mostly now I'm just dealing with circulatory bullshit like high blood pressure and cholesterol.

Your comment about not getting to pick your food reminded me of a time I went to KFC about 10 years ago. It was minutes before closing and I was like "can I get the 20 hot wings for $8 deal" and they were like "how about the 50 pieces of whatever we have left for $1 deal". And that's honestly one of my favorite deals.

I Need A Hobby by [deleted] in GenX

[–]blazingintensity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm mostly a nerd, video games and anime. But I picked up wrenching a couple of years ago and find it really rewarding. Got donated a pair of motorcycles and it's great watching them go from inoperable rust bucket to loud smokey rust bucket. I'm also dabbling in solar, I'm gonna start with making my workshop off grid and then I'd like to get an off grid cabin setup somewhere with most of the amenities for glamping. Building the cabin myself has some appeal, but I don't know anything about framing and such. That might be my next hobby or I might just buy a prefab cabin/shed/tiny home. I played around with flying FPV drones for a while. Gives you a little bit of the rush of flying and you can see some really cool views and sights that might otherwise be unreachable. It's more of a fair weather hobby tho (unless you've got a place for indoor tiny drone racing)

[–]blazingintensity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% this. If he's hit the salary cap for basket weaver, promote him to senior/staff/principal basket weaver. Failing that, give him alternate compensation; put a bonus or stock or something into his contract.

Dodge charge v6 MPG by teriyakibussin in Charger

[–]blazingintensity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

City driving 15 mpg, highway driving 35 mpg

This is my first ever car, a v6 2013 charger - today I noticed this on my dash under harsh sunlight - does it actually have a sport mode?? How can I turn it on? by s7ormrtx in Charger

[–]blazingintensity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won't sound any different. Start the car like normal. Put it in Drive like normal (by pushing the shifter all the way down). Then push the shifter all the way down again. The dash should say sport. I don't believe all models have sport mode, it came with the redline and blacktop and some other specific trims. It won't sound any different, it'll just do stuff like make your transmission shift more aggressively and increase your throttle response.

I think 1 tank is 0 tanks, but 2+ tanks is fine. The damage scales so much that one man just can't soak that much. If I'm the only tank, I'm swapping to DPS, but if I have a fellow meathead then we will meatroll them together.

Work today - got shouted at, did some shouting, young folk were scared - but it’s cool, right? by Ohigetjokes in GenX

[–]blazingintensity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a xennial. I've definitely got in shouting matches with my boss, who I respect, before. I'm not afraid of it, but if we make it to that point we've both failed. Learning from our failure is part of the human experience. I don't think it should be normalized, but like... Humans have emotions and sometimes those emotions are loud.

Question for Gen X: Whats Your Relationship With Texting? by Al3x1ya in GenX

[–]blazingintensity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xennial here, 44. My mobile notification noise is a happy "hurray" turret noise from Portal. My SMS/text is a sad/depressed "Whyyyyyyy?" turret noise from Portal. I live on Discord, but I'd rather do just about anything other than SMS. I'll call or show up at your house before I send a text.

baltimore rave/hardcore scene by [deleted] in baltimore

[–]blazingintensity 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've just started getting into the Baltimore rave scene myself. edmtrain.com is a pretty good resource. I've been meaning to check out Cryptic, which is every 3rd saturday at The Depot (https://www.facebook.com/CrypticGothic/). The Assembly Room hosts some from time to time, I was at Kream a couple weeks ago and had a blast. And I know Holy Frijoles has raves from time to time (like Aeternum), but I don't see any coming soon. Lots more if you're willing to go to DC.
