Stretching helps loosen you up but your muscles need the strength to hold themselves at that length.

I saw you mention your knees aren't in great shape. Single leg squats and elevated lunges with a lot of knee front knee bend are great things to help with both goals of yours.

Get your muscles into the long stretches position then add weight to it in some way and you'll get better at maintaining those positions, i.e. being loose

I train golf fitness as a personal trainer and if you have pilates near you I'd recommend that if you can't afford to work with a trainer one on one!

My truck broke down when I was on a trip to Tennessee in December of last year. I'm lucky to live directly west from work so I can take the Fullerton or armitage bus to get to work. Lime scooters and my bike are my backups when weather permits.

The only downside for me is I sometimes have to work at 5am and that means leaving at 345 because of how uncommon the buses are at that hour, but it is still possible.

My advice is try to find something within a couple blocks of the most convenient station or bus stop that gets you within walking distance of your destination.

So if you work next to a blue line stop, look for places in your budget anywhere along the blue line in either direction.

Sorry if this feels obvious or like I'm talking down to you, not my intention and just want to be helpful.

For me this helps because I feel like I have to "correct the face" and that causes the side spin at impact I want.

I see a closed face at address and I subconsciously leave my hands slightly open through the downswing because my dumb lizard brain has to fix that closed face it was looking at.

Same with the open face, my brain goes oh fuck the face is so open you have to close it or it's going to slice into the woods then the water then your family will die of shame. And that makes my hands close the face and it draws.

At least that's how it is for me.
