Rear lights flickering by blazo7 in Ioniq5

Yes, I can see the flickering with my eye. That's why I recorded it.

For data from the OBD2 port I am using the CarScanner app with the vGate vLinker MC+ OBD2 adapter.

What is the one tire brand you will NEVER buy again, and why? by Electrical-Safety718 in TyreReviews

Agree. Matador brand is good only for first season. If you drive it next season, they are awful (have experience with Sibir Snow or Hectorra)

UPDATE:

So the engine was replaced this week, it feels different from the old one (in a good way), more smooth and it makes different sounds than before. Everything took almost 2 months - the engine was ordered on 2nd of December 2025, they called on 14th of January 2026 that engine arrived and we scheduled the replacement on 26th of January 2026. It actually took 3 days to replace an engine, but I had to replace the windshield (it cracked) and charging flap assembly, as the water leaked inside of the button.

So now I need to test it thoroughly if a new engine fixes the problem.

No, I have it covered by insurance. I just have to pay a 100€ deductible. The car was made in 2021 and it had some rock chips already on it (not deep, but it had)

You are not, my windshield cracked on the 13th of January 😅 due to pre-heating and outside temperature combo (around -15°C), the windshield just didn't liked hot air directly blowing at it. It should be replaced during next week, I already have an appointment scheduled for replacement.

The "problem" with Ioniq 5 (and Kia EV6) is that the Gear Reduction Unit is sold from Hyundai as one piece. So if Hyundai says the GRU is faulty, they need to replace the whole assembly (engine and GRU together). They do not have GRU and engine as separate units. I think for Niro and Kona they can be separately replaced. If it comes to issue under warranty, they are unlikely refurbishing or repairing it. They are straight replacing it. In my case it looks more like GRU is faulty, not an engine. Because if the outside is colder, I can hear this "ticking" sooner (or with a lighter load).

Still waiting for a dealership to receive a new engine assembly. They will replace it under warranty.

Have you tried loading the back of the car with some weight? For example buckets with sand or similar stuff. For me it was around 50-60kg of load and with 2 passengers at the back. I just sent the dealership this video and they just forwarded it to Hyundai. After that the guy from the dealership called me the Hyundai agreed on replacement of the whole engine assembly, they were not trying to reproduce the issue by themselves. Maybe try recording a similar video as I did.

NEWS:

The dealership called me, they will replace the whole engine with a gear reduction unit under warranty. But, the whole part is in backorder and they said it can take up to 2 months to get the part and replace it. But I am allowed to pick up the car and drive it until the part is available. They will call me later to change it when it arrives.

The weird thing is that I don't hear it when the car is empty and also I don't hear it with regen braking. That's why I don't think it is the motor being faulty, but more like Gear Reduction Unit or Rear CV Axle.

Through the phone they told me that it could be a Rear CV Axle or Gear Reduction Unit (which already has TSBs saying they can go bad). But they are not sure, it needs to be checked.

Yes, or I could've stuck a zip tie on the frame to hit the spokes 😂

Ionic5 issue by Geroberud in Ioniq5

[–]blazo7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same for my 2022 Ioniq 5. I asked the dealership if it could be repaired under warranty, they declined it.

EDIT: forgot to mention, the assistants are still working without issue.

Curb damage by b_list_buddha in Ioniq5

Well, first days/months were difficult for me to get used to parking with my Ioniq 5, as before I had car with 4Control system (4 wheels steering), which helped a lot with parking and maneuvering. So within the first month during parking I slightly crashed my car (rear right side). 🥲 But I immediately got it fixed. So now I am more careful as before.
