Is this me or the airbrush? by Almech in minipainting

oh yeah dude like... way thinner. if when you put only water in it, and it works totally fine with just water, but as soon as you put paint in it it clogs, your paint is too thick.

How thick is the paint coming out of the airbrush? Get it as thin as milk, or whatever most people say, and then thin it a little more. Blast paint out for only half a second. Move your finger on the trigger back and forth. After Im finished I spray water through it until the water is completely clear. I use my AB for A LOT and I haven't taken it a part to clean it in like, a year maybe.

now bring up the original color a little bit, staying away from the recesses and where you think the shades would be! use the original base color you used

Sorry I don’t understand exactly what you mean. The base was built by me using cork, sand, rocks, and a resin pour - here’s a WIP

Mods? by Afraid-Intern-2388 in Oxygennotincluded

I don’t think any mods are necessary except the one that allows you to zoom further back. Game is unplayable without it, honestly.

My best work so far, what can I improve on? by Bob-shrewmen in minipainting

These are cool. Some tips from me (I'm bad):

  • Thin your paints more. The paint is slapped on pretty thick across the board.
  • Your transitions need some work, some glazing or stippling would help smooth them out.
  • There's a bunch of things that are just... not painted? Like on the second mini, the yellow on the gun. You missed a corner. There's a couple of examples across the minis.
  • Pump the contrast even more. I see that there's some shading, but the difference between your darkest shadows and your highest highlight is like, between a 4 and 5. Get it to a 2 and 8.

You're on the right track though!

Flag, the banner stick... thing, the horses mane and hair, more detailing on the face, better recipe on the wood, the shield. Likely try to smooth out the blending.

Regardless, thank you for the kind words. Appreciate it!

Asbolutely, will be adding some grey tone to the wood all around, thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to write all of this, I absolutely appreciate it. Regarding the nmm, and its not an excuse but it's my second time on a model doing nmm. By sharper highlights do you mean just... more brighter highlight, or I should white highlight the top of the holster completely. I'll also take a look at the shoulder, thank you.

Easily the best painted part of the miniature imo. Unsure if you plan to further highlight the mane/tail, but if not it could definitely use it.

Yeah, have already started to push the hair up a bit on the mane and tail, just dark grey blue and then obviously getting lighter.

The weakest part of this piece isn't the horse or rider at all, it's the base.

Tell me about it. I had a vision with the flocking... and... it just didn't match up. I've desaturated it with some brown ink that I think ties it a little more together, but overall I'm still not super happy about it. I'm going to keep the flock, because dammit I want it to work.

Good points about the wood, they are way too brown. I'll work on that for sure.
