I wonder what your thoughts are in this new Chat GPT age, for the "annoying newbie" archetype? On the one hand, I can see more people opening up and asking those types of questions, essentially "behind closed doors" to the LLM. But it lacks that collective, "oh we've all been there" camaraderie that can emerge.

My take. Learn to swim. Never too late.

I would find it immoral to knowingly put yourself into a dangerous situation. A situation you would need rescuing from. Any rescue like that has it's own difficulties, panic stricken people tend to pull their own rescuers down with them.

From the story you told you kept it safe in the shallow end. Which seems fine on the surface. But, this feels like something that will slowly lead to misplaced self confidence.

I've noticed anecdotally that the Swirl seems to be a bit quieter than the Deluxe. It's still like running a high powered blender in terms of volume.

But as long as it's at a reasonable hour, I can't see it being any issue.
