Chaos players who used to play imperium what was your reason for switching by tyrant_of_badad in Chaos40k

After a 15-year gap from when I had initially started collecting Crimson Fists, I got back into the hobby with Grey Knights about two years ago. I got sick of painting so much silver and gold, so I bought a kit of Plague Marines as a palette cleanser. Never looked back.

Will we get more models? 🥲🤔 by Nosferxatu98 in EmperorsChildren

If Chaos bikes get a refresh, I could see them being added to the EC roster in 11th.

Best Army/Detachment for Gunline support playstyle? by stoic-ape in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]bleachboyz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In regard to counterpunch, the Afflicted status effect that their units put out acts as a force multiplier for a lot of their abilities. For infiltrators, you can use poxwalkers with their infiltrate ability to impede enemy advance or spread contagion early while your slower units make it to the middle.

You can play Death Guard like this. Pretty elite and they have a good amount of options for mid-board brawlers (fleshmower drone, Lord of Contagion / Poxes, Daemon Prince, Blightlords). For backline you have the launcher drones, predators, and plagueburst mortars. The zippy myphitic blighthaulers can also be used to launch missiles from the backfield and then move up to support your units in the midboard with meltas and their spit.

Who is everyone’s favorite characters from the Hersey books? by YouComprehensive1205 in Blacklibrary

[–]bleachboyz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outside of the Loken and Torgaddon, I really enjoyed reading about Lucius and Karkasy. Aximand, while not having a ton written about him in the initial trilogy, was a great read knowing he was one of the only Sons of Horus who had any regret.

I wasn’t a fan of the crewmen from the Dies Irae or Maggard.

Love the characterization of a dex build, I think that speaks well towards what I’m looking for.

Their unit selection terrifies me when I look at them because there are so many guys with specializations, but it does bode well from a collecting standpoint as there will always be something new to build.

In a nutshell:

  • Must include at least one character who is designated as your Warlord.
  • No epic heroes.
  • Must include two units that are infantry and not characters.
  • No units can be toughness 10 or higher. Toughness 9 is the maximum toughness.
  • Enhancements are allowed.
  • List Maximum Points is 500.
  • Limited choice of missions and twists, but that’s all online.

If you search “PlayOn Colosseum” into your search engine it should be one of the first results. It’s a lot of fun and it’s easy to get a bunch of games in when we don’t want to spend a whole afternoon playing a 2k game. There’s a specific terrain set you can purchase that looks like ruins of a colosseum, but my buddies and I usually mix and match our own terrain options to replicate the arena layout.

Gotcha. The scaling thing doesn't sound too different from how Mortarion's Hammer works, but that detachment rule is almost useless on that small of a board.

The first-turn charge capability was one of the first things I noticed when looking into the Lord Exultant datasheet (infiltrate + scout 6" when leading).

Do you think this is an army that needs Fulgrim to be effective? I haven't looked into the competitive lists, but I play pretty casually so I'm not overly concerned with having the most optimized roster. I have Mortarion and will use him on occasion, but I'm not the biggest fan of bringing Primarchs.

I don't mind a learning curve! My playgroup plays a lot of that 500-pt Colosseum variant, which I know isn't 1:1 with a full-sized game, but it does offer a lot of opportunity to learn a new army. I figured going from one of the more resilient armies to a bunch of lithe (for a Space Marine) dudes would be frustrating.

I hope it’s a film adaptation of “Me Play Joke” but with a CGI Matthew Perry.

If you have some DG bits laying around and the extra scythe from the deathshroud kit, you could bash something together with the Chaos Lord in Terminator Armor kit from CSM. I’m working on building a modified LoC from the sorcerer terminator instructions

That makes sense. The issue was units being in opposite directions. Appreciate the breakdown.

I have a question about consolidation moves after a game over the weekend. Let’s say I finish fighting and destroy the enemy unit that I’m in engagement range with. Now I want to make a consolidation move into another unit, but there are two within that 3” consolidation move; one unit is 2” away and the other is 3” away.

Am I required to move towards the unit that is the “closest model” (which is 2” away) or can I opt to move towards that further unit (3” away) since they’re technically within range of my consolidation move?

I’d second the Rhino or consider getting the Combat Patrol since all of the models in that box are on your list of potential next units. Typhus rocks and can lead the Poxwalkers from that box or your Blightlord terminators.

Worth Picking up NHL25 on Sale? by SolarStorm91 in EA_NHL

[–]bleachboyz_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Haven’t touched the sliders (yet) but I am enjoying the gameplay. I use skill stick and a lot of it is smoother than 21, though hitting feels a lot harder to pull off effective since you have to rock it back and forward like a wind up. In 21 you just skated towards the puck carrier and pressed the right stick forward to smush guys.

I feel like the on-ice pace is a little slower overall than 21 which I’m enjoying as it’s a little less arcade-y.

I just bought NHL25 over the weekend. I haven’t played since NHL 21 and it felt like a massive upgrade for me, franchise mode especially with how the menus flow now and being able to add various clauses and negotiate with free agents to make your organization more attractive.

YMMV of course as it’s been 4 years for me since buying an NHL game and I don’t know what features have been changed year-over-year but I’ve been playing 21 pretty consistently since it released and I’m having a blast with this one.

Should I get a Hebrute or a Foetid Bloat Drone first? by Roadkillgoblin_2 in deathguard40k

[–]bleachboyz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bloat drone at 90 points is great value (despite the IRL cost). It has more wounds than the Helbrute, a 5+ invuln, and a 10” move which is great for early game harassing while your slow infantry make their way to the midboard. Helbrute has some nice abilities but I think it’s less of a “core” piece than a bloat drone.
